Life can be unpredictable. We all face moments of hurt, loss and brokenness. Yet, in the midst of our pain, there is a promise that shines like a beacon of hope. The promise of beauty for ashes. In Isaiah 61:3, God assures us that He will give us beauty for ashes. He will take our brokenness and transform it into something beautiful. But what does this mean for us? Think of it this way, ashes are the remnants of something that has been burned and destroyed. They represent the brokenness in our lives. But God promises to take those ashes and turn them into something beautiful, just like a phoenix rising from the ashes. This transformation can happen in many ways. It could be through the healing of a broken relationship, a newfound strength after facing a difficult situation, or simply finding joy in the midst of sorrow. I have faith that God will fulfill His promise and turn my ashes into something beautiful. I am hopeful for what is to come in 2024. So, to anyone who may be feeling stuck in their own ashes right now, hold on to the promise that God has for you. And remember, every fire brings opportunities for new growth. Today we will be looking at Romans 12:2 from the Bible. Romans 12:2 reads, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” This verse is telling us to not be like everyone else in this world and instead to be transformed by renewing your mind. This renewal requires continually testing yourself to discern the will of God and make sure it is good and perfect. We can compare this to a kind of spiritual detox where we break free of any unhealthy beliefs or habits that we have developed over time. It takes effort and dedication to create a spiritual environment where you can become closer to God. By taking the time to carefully consider our thoughts and actions, we can stay on the right path that God has outlined for us. In summary, Romans 12:2 encourages us to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. This entails breaking away from the world’s standards, continuously testing ourselves to ensure we are living in God’s will, and dedicating ourselves to the spiritual transformation process.
