APRIL IS 💙
This month is dedicated to respecting the rights and humanity of people with developmental disabilities.

According to the Centers for Disease Control , Autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the United States today.

Autism is NOT a mental illness. Autism is a Developmental Disability that begins anywhere from prenatal, birth to 3 years of age. This disability includes a wide range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.

Treatment like Early Intervention leads to positive outcomes later in life for people with autism. Early Intervention helps young children (birth to 3 years) who are not learning, playing, growing, talking or walking like other children their age.

Blue is a color associated with a calm feeling and acceptance in an otherwise loud and busy world for people on the spectrum 💙

January is National Blood Donor Month. 🩸🩸🩸🩸There is a greater prevalence of -O blood in African American and Latino populations. Blood donations from people of color can treat a broader cross-section of patients than blood donation from our white counterparts.

One person giving blood can save up to 3 three lives. Blood is the lifeline of our body. Blood donors can help meet the daily transfusion neesds of cancer and surgery patients, accident and burn victims, newborns and mothers delivering babies, AIDS and sickle cell anemia patients and many more.

‘Today’ show weatherman, Al Roker is home from the hospital for the second time after being discharged Thursday.

Roker, 68, was admitted to the hospital last month for a blood clot in his leg which sent some clots into his lungs. He was discharged once he recovered but was rushed back to the hospital within 24 hours of his release due to more blood clot complications. Yesterday he was released again.

Due to his ongoing recovery, he missed this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, his first absence from the iconic parade in 27 years. He also had to skip this year’s Christmas tree lighting at New York’s Rockefeller Center on Nov. 30.
