G3 (KP 7) Geomagnetic Storm developed overnight, courtesy of Our Creator! God's beauty never fails to amaze me ❤️
Latest update brings a hazier forecast overnight into Sunday across Union & Baker County, bringing an uncomfortable night ahead if you don't have AC. Triple digit record temps the next 2 days, and a storm Monday, but 80-degree highs & 40-degree lows return late week.
Sunday morning lows are trending more uncomfortable for PDX as a mix of clouds & haze increase. A front mid to late morning helps to clear both, while simultaneously, bringing a spotty storm threat. Thicker marine layer Monday, a shower Friday, and a week of 80's!
Warmest west of the cascades for Saturday, while out east will be Sunday, which will be the haziest statewide. Relief in both areas will increase Monday into Tuesday.
A warmer morning than usual for Union & Baker County as the return of haze helps to hold the temperature, but still more relief than Friday morning. Some relief from haze during the day Saturday will bump us up to triple digit heat.
Haze moves into PDX during the day Saturday and will thicken in the evening, but not in time for it to reduce the heat. It'll be the warmest of the bunch, but fortunately the final day in the 90's for at least a week.
Red flag warnings & watches have gone into effect across the state for the weekend as I expected. Latest update takes that away from us next week as we await a much-needed cool down!
Red flag warnings & watches have gone into affect across the state for the weekend as I expected, but that'll diminish with the much-needed cool down coming ...
Cooling takes a bit longer tonight due to the haze, meaning Friday morning will be a few degrees warmer than the night before, but the smoke should improve for the weekend. Triple digits return Saturday, peak Sunday, and finish Monday with overnight lows reaching their highest as storms move through. Midweek relief follows.
Friday will bring a carbon copy of Thursday for PDX. Hottest on Saturday afternoon, followed by the warmest morning into Sunday due to a broken marine layer, but it'll clear for an isolated storm threat by midday. AM clouds should be widerspread and slower to clear early next week, cooling highs to 80 degrees.
Temperatures statewide increase over the next few days, bringing a pleasant stretch of 70's across the northern half of the coast. Although not so pleasant inland, a mix of 90's & 100's return for many.
Wildfire haze increases across Union & Baker County Thursday, bringing filtered sunshine, although not affecting temperatures more than a few degrees. Highs are still expected to rise into the upper 90's.
Watching for low cloud & fog pockets for a few this morning, especially along the Columbia and into Clark County, otherwise a clear Thursday is on tap for PDX as 90 degree heat returns.
Recent storms have increased wildfire activity statewide, bringing increasing haze for the eastside this week. Red flag alerts have expired, although can't rule out a return for anyone in Oregon through the weekend with the increase of heat and storm activity.

Tonight and into Wednesday should be the warmest of the week, bringing the most uncomfortable period for those who don't have A/C. We barely break from triple digits Thursday, otherwise we'll be flirting with the century mark and record breaking heat through the weekend.
Excessive heat is over for PDX, although still remaining fairly warm over the next several days. Marine air will be strongest on Thursday though, bringing the most amount of relief this week.
Hottest today across most inland locations, but another fabulous afternoon for the coastline. Temperatures statewide will begin to trend cooler Wednesday into Thursday, although still flirting with triple digit heat out east.
Lows across Union and Baker County will bump up roughly 5 degrees tonight, making the cooling process a bit longer, although we will get relief in the early morning hours. Heating up quick Tuesday, bringing the first round of record breaking temperatures.
Adding another degree onto tonight and Tuesday for PDX, bringing the hottest and most uncomfortable period of this heatwave over the next 24 hours, but overall very similar to Monday.
Many models had temperatures slightly overdone the past few days west of the cascades, whereas slightly underdone out east. Latest update continues that trend this week.

Temperatures increase today, but we're still going to be in the 90's. Triple digit heat begins Monday, followed by record breaking temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday, which will the warmest of the bunch. We may not see a return of cooler air for another week.
Sunday will be the third day in a row of record heat for PDX, although we were a degree shy of the century mark Friday and Saturday, but that changes today. Triple digit heat and record breaking temperatures continues through Tuesday, which will be the warmest of the bunch, before backing off the second half of the week as a patchy marine layer may develop.
Excessive Heat Warning in effect for much of the inland northwest through the middle part of next week. Temperatures will continue to increase over the coming days as triple digit heat becomes common across the viewing area. PDX should top out at 101° today, beating the old record of 97° set back in 1960. A few days away from record territory in the Blues, but hot air begins to build with La Grande and Baker warming to 93° for your Saturday.
My temperature projections on the record breaking heatwave moving in across the state, along with when you can expect relief, all found in the first forecast I've done in months - feels good to be back!

G5 (KP 9o): The highest level of geomagnetic activity there can be, making it the strongest storm since 2003! Huge step up from September's KP 7 storm that I was lucky enough to see as tonight (5/10/24) marks my first, and possibly only experience witnessing the color with my own eyes in Oregon! God's work at His finest ♥️
Experienced my first total solar eclipse, absolutely breathtaking views from Our Creator! Midwest trip is off to an awesome start ♥️
Absolutely nailed those temperatures! I knew it was going to be more severe than many weather sources were showing... Too bad La Grande's sensor went down at 6:30pm yesterday and didn't come back online until 1pm today 🙄
Thank you all for tuning into my live coverage! Sub-zero air has moved into my area and temps will continue to drop as snow/ice increases across the state. I would advise you not to travel this weekend as it'll be a mess for many, unless you're south of Eugene to Newport where the precipitation will stay rain or north of Longview to Tri-Cities where the coldest air will limit snow totals.
I'm live on YouTube, tracking the storm and arctic air as it develops across Oregon. How snowy, icy or cold will it be in your area? Tune in to find out! Any additional questions? Ask away, I got all the details!

My forecast is still on track. Live coverage at 6pm, on YouTube.com/GabeCurtis!
West of the cascades, prepare for a north valley snowstorm & south valley ice storm with a mix north/central coast. Many districts will release early or close Friday ahead of major impacts Saturday. All snow east of the cascades, following sub-zero air. My estimate for totals...

Wind advisory through Tue. across I-5 & out east for 35-55 mph gusts, high wind warning areas of the basin for 55-70. Blizzard warning northern Blues & cascades through Wed. for 1-6 ft snow and 45-75 mph gusts. Valley flurries midweek, Sat. storm possible.
Excluding a slightly wet October and slightly cold December, this season remains drier & warmer than normal. 50-75% less snow than last year only brings snow to some, best shot in December. Valleys 70-80° Monday, patchy drizzle west of the cascades with a spotty high desert storm. Coastal showers late Tuesday move across the state Wednesday as highs drop to the 50s & 60s for many, bringing stormy areas out east w/flurries +4K' early Thursday.
Smoke clears west of the cascades Monday and backs off out east as Tropical Storm Hilary slams the Blues w/ 1.75-4.25" east of La Grande and John Day through Tuesday, breaking to severe storms after steady rain. Watching a few storms late week across I-5.
Cooling Monday, 70's & 80's inland with 90's parts of the Columbia Basin and High Desert. Coastal marine clouds & drizzle spill from Longview to Salem, all areas clear Monday to a patchy setup midweek as valleys warm 90-95° with triple digit heat out east.
First widespread snow of the season expected tonight across the lowest elevations of Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon! Tune in to find out how much accumulation expected from Longview, Portland, Salem to Eugene.
6 years ago today, G-Weather was born! Although I can't stop cringing at myself back then, I thank God for the snowstorm in Portland at the time. That was the event that inspired me to start predicting the weather! I would spend countless hours after school when I should've been doing homework, just to produce forecasts that earned zero money because that's what made me happy. That sure paid off in January 2021, I've been getting paid to produce weather forecasts for Eastern Oregon ever since! I strongly believe that through the past two years, God has called me to provide the highest accuracy product in an area that lacks coverage most 🙌 https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRgV95aj/
