Snaprimages
Hi All. A quick note to say that I will be stepping out of sports photography and so there will be no updates from me for the foreseeable future. True to say that Snaprimages’ posts have been few and far between in the last 18 months, and my time has been limited for many reasons. My passion for sport and photography has never wavered, but circumstances lead me to have to take a decision, whilst I focus on other personal projects.
The last 17 years have taken me on a beautiful journey. From weathering literal storms at Victoria Stadium during pre-UEFA days and covering the top two football divisions, to jumping across all sports for Gibsport magazine, to documenting the Island Games and more. I was fortunate to be accepted by as their main photographer and this I did with pride. I was at the first ever official UEFA match vs Slovakia, the win vs Malta, the first competitive goal vs Scotland, at Hampden, the trip to Nuremberg to face the World Champions Germany, the trip to Oporto to face the European Champions Portugal, the countless trips to Stadio do Algarve, the huge adrenaline rush when being escorted by police sirens thundering down motorways and city centres to arrive at some of the best stadiums, and have people smile and wave at us as if we were the best. And in our minds we could have been. Stepping into an airport in Germany as a squad with our Gibraltar kits on and the whole departure zone turning and applauding us sticks in my mind as a special moment. My personal efforts took me to the Euro 16 Finals where I mixed it up with the pro photographers, and to a Europa League semi-final to cover my beloved club. My thanks to for their support and assistance throughout all of this, without whom I wouldn’t have got as far as I have. And to my fellow touchline photographers and friends for the laughs through the sun, rain and cold. I now take my seat back in the stands, as a fan. For now the Snaprimages page will remain as a personal portfolio site, until I decide to return.
Happy snapping,
Snapr.
