Your reminder to wear the god damn dress💃🏼

When I first put this on I said to Tommy, “are you sure it’s not too short? I’d never wear something this short unless we were on holiday” 🧐

First of all - they’re only bloody legs! And second of all - life is too short to be planning your entire wardrobe around whether or not you’ll be in a different country 🙋🏼‍♀️

When asked who he’d like to dress up as for world book day, Rupert was adamant it was going to be the friendly little monster from his current favourite book! 📚 oh how he laughed getting his fingers into this morph suit 😂

I’m just glad it wasn’t the alien 🙈

We did it little one. Three whole months of feeding you. It has been the hardest and loneliest thing I’ve ever done, but the magic makes up for it. Most of you will know the trauma I went through trying to breastfeed Rupert - we didn’t make it past day 10. With River, my experience has been completely different and I’m so thankful I tried a second time and have been lucky enough to have both experiences. People often ask me what the difference has been with feeding River and I always say two things - he didn’t have a severe tongue tie like Roo had. The second thing being the support I received in hospital and from my local breastfeeding support team once home. Support is EVERYTHING. Especially from those who have been through it. I’ve so much I want to say but no idea where to begin. I am equal parts proud and guilty. I don’t have a ‘goal’ I’d like to get to and we just take each week at a time. Whichever way we feed our babies, it’s all so hard. All ever hear is how natural breastfeeding is, and although in scientific senses they may be true, in reality I find the statement a little misleading. There’s so much to learn, it’s a skill in which society expect you to be able to do and perfect overnight. I formula fed my first and so far I’ve breastfed my second. They’re both my babies, both thriving and I’m one proud mama 💛 this is for those of you who had a tough time the first time - it may not be the same the second time. Each baby is different, you’ve just got to go with what makes you the happiest and best you can be. There is an unbelievable amount of pressure out on new mums to breastfeed but the support thereafter is lacking in most areas. I hope this changes fast and one way it might is if we talk more about it - normalising all experiences. P.s couldn’t find one suitable picture I liked to go with this caption, most of them are me sat in my big knicks 😂

Little photo dump from Rupert’s first library trip since he was a year old! “You sit here Mama, you read this Mama”. If anyone had seen me trying to get up off one of those little cushion things with River they’d have been chuckling for days 🙈 after a while Roo got the concept of putting books back on the shelf and not the floor 👌🏻 he gave the lady his library card which he was very proud of and said thank you after she scanned each book. He took great care in placing them in his bag to walk home with. As we were leaving I heard one of the women say, “what a lovely, polite little boy” and honestly I could have cried 😭 two and a half year olds are sent to try us, but when they give us that glimmer of being so spectacular and endearing, you breathe a sigh of relief and remember why it is you’re doing what you’re doing and that you’re doing something just a little bit right 🖤

This one is coming up to 11 weeks and we are slowly leaving the super snoozy newborn baby stage and getting to see his blue eyes and little smile a bit more often 🖤 he has no real routine when it comes to feeds, has almost outgrown 3-6 month clothes, sleeps on my chest every night and is happiest in the sling when out and about. Roo asks to hold him all the time now, asks where he is if he can’t see him, helps at bath time and laughs when River smiles. Tommy and I are like two ships that pass in the night and catch up via text on his lunch break most days 🙈 It seems to be flying by the second time round, there has to be a pause button somewhere, right? 🕰 (the last picture is how River feels about it being Friday 🙋🏼‍♀️)

The Newborn Days, sponsored by: The Rich Tea Biscuit 🙋🏼‍♀️

I just edited a photo of a biscuit.

But I’m sat on the sofa underneath a sleeping baby and there isn’t much else to take a photo of 🙈 I feel like my feed needed a picture of something that wasn’t one of us, so naturally, here’s a biscuit. The hardest days sometimes with a tiny babe are the ones where you’re on your own, you want to nap but have stripped the bed so can’t just crawl in, you want to eat all day and are counting down the hours until someone walks through the front door. I can’t wait to go back to bed, once I’ve somehow managed to find ten minutes to make it 🙈 it’s days like today where the little niggly thoughts set in where I doubt everything I possibly can. You forget how much of yourself you give to them, especially when they are so young. You know it’s normal and you wouldn’t have it any other way but when you’re tired it’s easier to question every single decision you’re making. It’s almost 3pm and I haven’t brushed my teeth yet 😂 I haven’t achieved a lot at all. Other days are more productive. Some are lazy and I’m fine. Some are lazy and I’m teary. But there are always, always, biscuits 🖤

oh my squishy little boy 🖤

last Sunday we braved our first family photoshoot 🙈 it was a tad chaotic but I can wholeheartedly recommend Christina from if any of you live Lancashire way! Juggling a toddler who is currently going through a bit of a phase shall we say and a newborn who wanted to feed the entire morning, two pretty stressed parents AND a camera is no easy feat 😂 Christina managed to capture - somehow - our spirit as a family as well as who we are individually. I was so worried beforehand as my body is so different and I have no clothes really except from leggings and pjs but I pulled out this jumper which I bought when I was pregnant, wore to so many maternity apps and have worn so much since that it’s like a comfort blanket! I would have been happy to just have had once nice photo come from the shoot but I love them all and I’m very glad I didn’t let my hang ups about myself or managing two children and a messy house stop me from booking it 🙋🏼‍♀️ p.s expect a fair bit of photo spam from the shoot 📷 p.p.s I have forgotten how to post photos of anything other than babies but at the moment I don’t take pictures of anything else other than sharing what snacks I’m eating 🍫☕️

We got drenched but we had fun! 🙈 Our family outings aren’t proving as stressful as I thought they’d be - yet! Top tips but not entirely ground breaking are - get everyone’s outfits, bag, wellies and anything else you might you need, by the door all the night before. SNACKS. Take anything you can find 😂. Allow room for things to go wrong and just accept that you’re not going to tick all of the boxes - cut everyone some slack! My new motto is ‘something’s got to give’, so if everything has gone ‘to plan’ but I’ve forgotten a change of clothes or a hat or my glasses - it’s fine because you’re not going to get it right all of the time. Be okay with the notion that days out now aren’t really days out, but that an hour or two is more than enough for everybody, and when you get home you’ve definitely earned guilt free tv time! 🙋🏼‍♀️ I walk around as proud as punch when we are out, even if my stress levels are higher than usual - the fact we are all out together in the fresh air feels like a massive achievement. Some days I don’t get out of my pjs but the bottom line is - whatever you manage, go easy on yourself - you’re doing just fine! 🖤

Today marks a month since River was born. 🖤 it sounds so simple when put like that, doesn’t it? It also marks a month of crazy hair, oversized t-shirts and very big, up to my belly button knicks. A month of changing the sheets a little more often than usual because they’ve endured nights of newborn nappy changes, baby sick and the odd rich tea crumb 🙈 it’s been a month of giving my all to one, whilst giving my all to the other. A month of learning new skills and brushing up on skills I once had but needed reminding how to put to use. A whole month of feeling like I’m the only person in the world awake for hours at 3am, whilst being in the most precious company. A month of telling myself to take it slow, at the same time as trying to grab a spare 5 minutes to put a wash on. It’s been a month of watching my body go through yet more changes and a month of trying to embrace each and every one of them. A month of being astounded by the concept of time - how fast it goes and how little we have. A month of wanting to pause so many moments. A month with a tiny, new human permanently led on my chest. A month where the words pain, endurance, love and exhaustion have taken on new meanings once again. All in all, one of the best months of my life, where not a day has gone by that I don’t thank my lucky stars for my boys, and grateful for my mind and body - (big knickers, chocolate buttons and dry shampoo too), for going through what they do every day.

There are another hundred things I could list, but blimey, it’s amazing what you can fit into 4 weeks isn’t it 💪🏻

We have had three weeks as a four! This was River’s first walk... well, first time in the pram being pushed around by his big brother 🖤 I remember the first time we took Rupert out and I was so, so sad after a really rocky start. This time has been very different for lots of reasons, not that I’d change either experience. It just goes to show that if you have a tricky start with your first, it doesn’t mean the second time around will be the same. River’s first few weeks have been the complete opposite to Rupert’s and honestly I’m really grateful to have had the two very different experiences. Everyone always asks if we found going from 0-1 or 1-2 children harder and don’t get me wrong we’ve had our challenges since Riv arrived but 0-1 was such a shock to our systems 🙈 Rupert is slowly adjusting, one minute he’s the most adorable and doting little boy, the next he is launching something across the room and telling me I’m not funny but HEY it’s all about the process right? 😂 side note - we bought the newborn insert for our babyzen yo-yo and it’s amazing - would definitely recommend! 🙋🏼‍♀️

that little hand 🤎 today we were all out of the house by 8.30am, fed and dressed! We dropped Roo off at nursery and then headed back the to the hospital as I had an app for my second iron infusion - my iron was so low throughout pregnancy & naturally even lower after having a c-section. We even made it home before baby was due his next feed 🙋🏼‍♀️I was just about to write something like, ‘I’m sure tomorrow won’t be as easy’, before I stopped myself and thought why can’t it be? Sometimes we are a bit too hard on ourselves and it’s almost like we are looking for an opportunity to put ourselves down. Well today I’m here for the small accomplishments and patting ourselves on the back when we should, I’m back in my pjs now 🙈💪🏻

When our three became a four 🌏🖤 Rupert has been so wonderful with River, (scroll to see his face when he first met him 😫) he keeps saying things like, “my brother, River, me hold finger, snuggly, baby blanket soft” and my heart melts a little more each time! Roo has had quite a week with his nursery room closing for isolation and a trip to A&E (he’s absolutely fine) - not so great timing but he’s taken it all in his stride and continues to astound me every second! 🎇

I never uploaded these at the time because all I can see is mum pouch. A tummy that although wasn’t perfect before, definitely looks a little different now. It’s taken me a couple of years to realise but this mum pouch is something I’m incredibly grateful for - it’s also perfect for resting you upon 💛 I say almost every week that I can’t believe you’re mine, then I see how much you love to dance and laugh and I’m reminded you very much are. The hardest but the best thing I’ve ever done, my Rupert Bear🐻

IT'S BEEN A WHILE! 🙋🏼‍♀️

I have just popped a weekend vlog up on my channel, I feel very rusty at this but if you fancy seeing a little grocery haul, some makeup and skincare favourites, a look at Rupert's new bedroom and what life can be like with a tricky toddler then here you are!

little corners ✨ I spent the morning today sorting out some bits and pieces in Rupert’s bedroom whilst Tommy was hanging things and building furniture in there. I am so happy with how it is coming together 🖤 I’ve shared some more snaps on my stories and will post a proper update once it’s all done but Roo was SO happy with the progress we made today when he came to inspect after nursery. It took a little longer to get him to settle when bed time came as he just kept pointing at everything and having a little natter 😫

A year ago I was sat on the floor of Manchester Airport making this one giggle his little head off in a bid to keep him awake way past his bed time. Little did we know, it would be whilst we were cleaning up after a takeaway with family we had met up with over there that Tommy would read a headline about a virus breaking out in China. What a 12 months hey? Makes me treasure moments captured in this picture even more because you never really know what’s around the corner 🖤

There’s nothing quite like no adventuring and minimal human contact for almost a year to make you want to turn those plans you’ve always dreamed of into something you can grab hold of and see right in front of you. Now I’m not talking as far as Brugges, but have any of you moved area? I’d love to start up a bit of a chat about relocating and hear any tips or experiences you have had. Even if you just think you live in the best town on the planet, let me know where it is and why we should move there 🙈 looking for serious inspiration, we’ve even started a new notebook for the occasion! 🏡

remembering the days where we were free to roam around other, quite magical places, where our greatest worry was the church bells waking up our baby from his nap 🙌🏻
