The history of Jesuits in Timor-Leste from colonial period through occupation and independence. Soibada, Manatuto is the first Jesuit Post in Timor-Leste. Congratulations Amo João Filgueiras with his three colleagues for re-starting Jesuit Mission in Timor-Leste in 1958 after 50 years of expulsion of Jesuits from Timor-Leste following political change in Portugal. Congratulations Amo Joaquim Sarmento SJ as the first Timorese Jesuit born in Soibada. Jesuits started in Timor-Leste by building school, church, colégio (boarding school) and penetrated the grass-roots through vocational training refugee services and only staying in intelectual level.
