I Love Zouk

Zouk is a fast carnival jump up style of rhythmic music originating from the Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique, popularized by the French Antilles Kassav' in the 1980s. Elements of Gwo ka, tambour bélé, ti bwa, biguine vide and cadence-lypso, including the full use of the MIDI technology, are prominent in the original zouk "zouk béton". The French Creole tongue of Martinique and Guade

loupe is an important element, and are a distinctive part of the music. Its originator French Antilles Kassav' is the only band that includes it in its repertoire to a lesser extent. The style lost ground in the late 80's due to the strong presence of cadence or compas, the main music of the French Antilles.
