Border patrol agents in California shot and killed a bandit who was robbing other migrants as they crossed into the U.S. from Mexico.

Multiple U.S. Customs and Border Protection sources confirmed that a criminal migrant who crossed the border in the San Diego sector was shot and killed by a member of the Border Patrol’s elite Border Patrol Tactical unit, or BORTAC, early Sunday morning.

The incident happened in a remote area where the bandits had been seen crossing into the U.S., robbing migrants and returning to Mexico.

Border Patrol agents responded to "bandit activity" on Sunday morning, when they came across a small group of bandits who were robbing migrants as they were walking to an area where migrants surrender to agents so they can be processed.

One of the bandits was shot and killed while the others returned to Mexico. None of the Border Patrol agents were harmed during the encounter.

Donald Trump revealed a dangerous part of his agenda in Virginia, where he promised to strip federal funding from any schools that mandate vaccinations.

Trump said, “I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory transgender insanity and other inappropriate racial sexual or political content onto our children, and I will not give one penny to any school that has a vaccine mandate.”

Trump didn’t mention COVID vaccination because the vast majority of public schools don’t require COVID vaccinations. Donald Trump was talking about som**hing much more dangerous. Trump was talking about punishing schools that try to prevent polio, measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, diphtheria, whooping cough, and hepatitis outbreaks.

Essentially, Donald Trump is promising to endanger the health of children to appeal to extremist anti-vaxxers. Trump doesn’t talk much about policy in his campaign speeches, but the policies he touches on are far-right extreme. It is early in the campaign, and most voters won’t start paying any attention until Labor Day, but Donald Trump isn’t hiding anything about what a second term would look like.

Trump is willing to promise to endanger the health and well-being of children if that is what it takes for him to pick up a few more votes.

"I don't know what the gunman's problem was," he said. "I don't know his motive, but it wasn't mental health that killed these people. It was an automatic rifle with bullets. That's what killed them."

Iowa lawmakers pass legislation to roll back child labor protections

The Iowa legislature has passed a Republican-led bill that would roll back child labor protections, including the hours teens are allowed to work and the establishments where they can be employed.

If signed by Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds – who has expressed support for the measure – the bill would allow 14- and 15-year-olds to work two additional hours per day when school is in session, from four to six hours. They would also be able to work until 9 p.m. during most of the year and until 11 p.m. from June 1 to Labor Day, two hours later than previously allowed. The bill would also allow 16- and 17-year-olds to work the same hours as an adult.

Officer who held back crowd during George Floyd’s murder convicted of aiding and abetting manslaughter:

A Minnesota judge found former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao guilty of aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter for his role in keeping bystanders back in the May 2020 killing of George Floyd, according to court documents filed Monday.

In a 177-page verdict, Judge Peter Cahill wrote that Thao “actively encouraged his three colleagues’ dangerous prone restraint of Floyd” contrary to his training that the positioning could cause fatal asphyxia.

“Like the bystanders, Thao could see Floyd’s life slowly ebbing away as the restraint continued,” Cahill wrote in the verdict. “Yet Thao made a conscious decision to actively participate in Floyd’s death: he held back the concerned bystanders and even prevented an off-duty Minneapolis firefighter from rendering the medical aid Floyd so desperately needed.”

The guilty verdict means that all four of the officers who took part in the fatal restraint of Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, have been convicted on both state and federal charges. Thao’s state case was the last of the multiple trials related to Floyd’s death, which was captured on video and set off worldwide protests objecting to police violence against Black people.
