Two people have been reportedly killed earlier today in separate incidents while a middle aged man stabbed by unknown assailants and currently receiving medication at Marsabit referral hospital.

One was shot dead near huduma centre while the other at Kiwanja ya ndege area and the middle aged man stabbed at Maikona stage.

According to police suspects escaped on motorbikes.

Tension remains high in Marsabit town as businesses closed and transport system paralyzed.

The killing comes barely 24 hours after a herder was shot and killed at Ola ginda grazing areas.

More than 10 people are reportedly to have lost their lives since the onset of the holy month of Ramadhan.

Kenyans who fail to register their SIM cards by next week risk disconnection and penalties as prescribed under the law.
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Director-General Ezra Chiloba said that mobile phone subscribers who fail to register their SIM cards by April 15, 2022, with respective telecommunication service providers face fines of up to Sh300,000 or serve a jail term of six months or both.
According to the CA, SIM card registration is aimed at combating cybercrime and fraud in the digital space.
There has been a push and pull between the Authority and telecommunications service providers over sim-card registration since 2015 who have sought an extension of the deadline for the sim-card registration on numerous occasions.
“There would be no extension so those still dragging their feet should wake up to the reality and register with their respective telecom service providers or face permanent deactivation,” said Chiloba.
Chiloba asked mobile network operators to speed up the data cleanup exercise and deactivation of all unregistered and improperly registered SIM cards, noting that no extension would be offered beyond the set deadline.
The mandatory SIM registration is being implemented in the wake of growing incidents of fraud involving mobile phones.
“We want before the end of April all the networks to be cleaned up by deactivating all unregistered and improperly registered SIM cards from the networks,” said Chiloba.
He said Kenya will join other countries in the world that have developed similar policies and collected biometric data through a registration process by telecom companies in a bid to boost cybersecurity.
At the same time, Chiloba warned parents against registering SIM cards with their credentials for their children who are above 18 years to operate.
He added that previously data systems in the country remained non-digitised due to poor information and communication infrastructure which is no longer the case at the moment when the digital divide is narrowing.
“It means that criminals and even terrorists can use unregistered SIM cards for anonymity and avoiding detection by the authorities,” he said adding that the registration will help in facilitating crime tracking and prevention by the security agencies.
A spot check by Nairobi News revealed long queues being witnessed in a number of registration centres in Nairobi ahead of the deadline only nine days away.

Ukur Yatani deviding Upper Eastern through retrogressive politics

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani is a man on a mission to unpopularise President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Jubilee Admnistration in Upper Eastern region though divisive and old fashioned tactics.

Last week, he led a non inclusive group of leaders purportedly from northern Kenya’s arid and semi-arid lands (Asals) in the name of affirming formation of the Upya Movement, a political group allegedly aimed at uniting pastoralists ahead of the 2022 General Election.

The initiative was later dismissed by key stakeholders from the region led by Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal who expressed his reservations over the move ĺterming it unnecessary.

"As politicians and civil servants we should direct our efforts and energy to what benefits the ordinary mwananchi rather than these ill timed political shenanigans meant to enrich a few individuals. Instead I ask President Kenyatta to speed up unfinished projects in Samburu county to empower locals" he confidently stated.

Lately,the embattled CS is surrounded by people who have previously failed in their mandate to transform the lives of the needy people.Most of his technical advisors are the so called Professionals who have performed dismally in their areas of specialization.

Case in point is gynecologist Guyo Waqo who has lost touch with the ground after unsuccessfully vying for Moyale Parliamentary seat twice.

Away from the prying eyes of Kenyans, he made several appointments to reward his former political allies with strategic board positions in institutions with ties to the Labour and Treasury ministries.

Since he joined the National Treasury, he has continued with unabated shame.

In November 15, 2019, his wife Dr Gumato Yatani sparked controversy when she landed two government appointments having been appointed to chair Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology council by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, as then-Industrialization minister Peter Munya also appointed her a member of the task force on standards and quality assurance.

On Tuesday this week an Impeachment motion was tabled against him by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei on grounds of abuse of Office, financial impropriety, misuse of resources,frustrating devolution among others.

"It is a shame that someone who once served as a governor and is still looking forward to come back in the same capacity has been using public office for his own personal gains and to witchhunt on others at the expense of co-operating with governors to strengthen devolution" noted Tharaka Nithi senator Prof Kindiki Kithure.

There is growing concern that continued government loans which has by passed 9 trillion so far will ruin and destroy the future of this country under his watch as Finance Minister.

WE AS BORANA COMMUNITY CONDEMNED WITH A STRONGEST TERMS POSSIBLE, CS MATIANGI'S STATEMENT. HE INSULTED BORANA COMMUNITY.
THE WAY FORWARD FOR THIS COMMUNITY.
The fact is that CS Matiangi is just an individual person despite occupying such a powerful docket currently. He is not permanently placed there to frustrate this community for good. Leaders come and go. His baseless claim could not a permanent government record.

Therefore, suggest the following actions as a community:
1 . This community must come out boldly to condemn the statements made by one CS Matiangi against Borana community through various press statement by different quarters of this community such as , , of elders, , and groups from ALL BORANA SUB COUNTIES IN ALL THE BORANA COUNTIES ie Marsabit, Isiolo and even Tana River.
2 . Sue this government in a court of law specifically the ministry of interior for being biased and segregative in service delivery to citizens as well as Mass killings, Mass Displacement of Borana poulation and Loss of community livelihood due to his unfair treatment to Borana community and more so tarnishing the name of entire community.

3 . Lobby the members of both house, The Parliament and Senate to take necessary action against CS Matiangi with the powers bestowed on them for his unfair actions and utteraces against this community that is soiling the name of this community, Mass killings, Mass Displacement of Borana poulation and of community livelihood due to his unfair treatment to Borana community.

Enough is enough we'll airour voices until we overcome evil plans.
