Clackamas River (Cazadero Section) -- 1/23/20
Pretty killer lap today on the elusive Cazadero section of the Clackamas. Short and very sweet, I was thoroughly impressed and exhilarated. Fun big water Class 4 for about a mile makes it a quick and awesome run that really should be run more often!

Great first run of the new year. One of my favorite days in the gorge. Level was only 5.5 but was still plenty of fun!

Calvin Mini-Edit
I happened to be going through the archives to find a few clips for something Calvin is up to and decided to make a little mini-edit with a few of the clips I found. Pretty quick edit, but hope you enjoy!

First Truss lap in a loooong time
Picked up a new boat recently. Been paddling a bit more. Felt really great to get back on the truss...even though it wasn't exactly my cleanest lap. At least I know my roll still works...

Waka Kayaks Stout Review by an Off-The-Couch Has Been
So I messaged EG last week about taking the Stout out for a demo. I'd paddled my dad's new Tuna 2 twice and didn't really love it. I like small boats and the Tuna felt a little too easy for me. I was excited about the Stout because it was designed by Sven and seemed to be geared a little more towards performance--even if that produces a harder boat to paddle.
I really dug this boat. It's definitely exactly that performance boat that I was expecting. I normally paddle the Zet Raptor and it definitely had the harsh edges that I was used to with that. I loved the maneuverability in the Stout. It's feels much narrower than the Tuna 2. I felt a little bit squirrelly in the boat, but I was a touch off the couch and I didn't want to mess with the outfitting too much.
It definitely has that Tuna skip that the OG Tuna had. It goes right over holes and when you go through you still come up on top of the water. Overall, I think that this is definitely a boat for expert paddlers. It wouldn't be super comfortable for beginner paddlers I think and wouldn't inspire confidence if you're not in your boat much. It's definitely edgier that the Tuna and so I felt the edges on my stern catch when I was paddling lazily. Much like my raptor, you've gotta drive this thing!
PROS:
-Super Maneuverable
-Easy to roll
-Boofs like a dream (that waka skip)
-Light
-small
-knee hooks are a little smaller than the tuna and felt better to me
-Stern loads and it pops out of holes really well
CONS:
-Pretty Edgy (if you’re not into that)
-Have to drive it
-When you boof and land it kind of goes in whatever direction it wants (the complaint that I've heard from a lot of 9R paddlers)
There's probably more things I'm forgetting about, so let me know if you have any more questions!

Low As Canyon Creek (255 CFS) 12-10-17
Lane Clark and I went for a nice lap on a super low Canyon Creek yesterday (255 CFS). She's still pretty fun, but a little sketchy too!

EFL 10-20-17
Been a crazy few weeks. Haven't brought the GoPro out in a while, but got lucky with some real pretty fall colors out on an EFL lap last weekend. Feeling good about things. Haven't posted in a long time, but hope you all are well. Stoked for the College Whitewater Festival next weekend! Will feel real good to get back on the Sky. Love that place.

Well, it feels like old times. Threw together a quick edit from the EFL while avoiding doing my homework. Good times out there trying out the Newmad Small. It was pretty fun messing around with that thing. Cheers.

Really long day for not much whitewater. That's the way it goes sometimes. Nice to meet some Eugene folks anyways and felt good to boof a little.
