Texas GOP Vote Community of conservative writers, activists, and lawmakers, and platform for policy discussions We welcome readers' comments.

TexasGOPVote is a broad community of writers, activists, and legislators who believe that healthy debate will lead to a better Republican Party. One of our primary objectives is to connect grassroots activists across Texas with our elected leaders - both in Austin and Washington - to ensure a genuine dialogue between the Republican voter and the people they send to the halls of power. Various view

points on any given issue may be expressed in the articles found on TexasGOPVote.com. The Republican Party is the party of Abraham Lincoln, formed to abolish slavery and to uphold the principles of a democratic constitutional republic upon which the United States of America was formed. We believe in every person's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and believe that our founding fathers gave us the constitutional framework to enable every person the God-given right to pursue their dreams. As such, we believe in the sanctity of human life and do not tolerate racism and bigotry and other forms of prejudice. We believe in the rule of law and that our Constitution gives us the framework for making and changing laws as deemed necessary by our elected officials. We believe that beyond these fundamental principles, there is a diversity of opinion within our party on matters of governance, and we welcome debate on these matters. We believe our core principles are what built the foundation for a lasting Republican majority in Texas. We believe these same core principles and the diversity of opinions expressed in Texas, the largest Republican state, also set the example and direction for republicanism in the United States. Our mission is to serve as the home of Republican exceptionalism for Texas and the United States.

Although the Trump administration says immigration raids target the “worst of the worst,” the detention of Luis — a longtime Houston handyman, father, and homeowner with no criminal record — highlights how enforcement often sweeps up law-abiding, deeply rooted community members rather than violent offenders. His case underscores a broader pattern in which DHS expends significant taxpayer resources detaining nonviolent immigrants, fueling family separation and exposing the need for congressional reform that prioritizes public safety while creating legal pathways for long-term residents with clean records.

The Trump administration has stated that immigration raids are targeting the “worst of the worst.” However, the detention story of Luis, a handyman and family man with no criminal background who moved to Houston, Texas 25 years ago, raises questions about this statement and whether DHS is effici...

Americans are facing an affordability crisis after 40-year high inflation under the Biden administration. A quarter of U.S. households are living paycheck to paycheck, while 56% of voters say that affordability is their top concern. While there is no silver bullet that can magically erase economic anxiety, Republicans have delivered solutions that will ease the burden of rising costs on Texan families through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, also known as the Working Families Tax Cuts.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) authored the following op-ed in the San Antonio Express News on the benefits of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, also known as the Working Families Tax Cuts, which will put money back into the pockets of hard-working Texans.

The Department of Homeland Security claims it is targeting the “worst of the worst” immigrants, but its own data show that only about 4% of ICE arrests fall into that category, with most of those individuals lacking violent crime charges. More than half of those labeled “worst of the worst” were not charged with violent offenses, and many had only minor infractions such as traffic violations or immigration-related charges, with some cases even counted multiple times. This data suggests DHS is diverting resources away from pursuing serious criminal threats.

“Too many of our warriors, especially our Special Operators, are silently struggling with the long-term effects of blast exposure, and it’s time that we get them the care and the answers that they deserve,” said Rep. Ronny Jackson. “This task force will finally unify Veteran Affairs and Department of War research, cut through bureaucratic gaps, and deliver real solutions to protect and restore the brain health of our servicemembers and veterans.”

Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) introduced the Blast Overpressure Research and Mitigation Task Force Act to establish a Warfighter and Veterans Brain Health Task Force under the Joint Executive Committee (JEC) to coordinate research on cognitive performance, brain protection, and neurological inju...

The Texas Dream Act allows undocumented students who meet specific criteria—including graduating from a Texas high school, residency in the state for at least three years, and an affidavit of intent to apply for permanent residency—to qualify for in-state tuition rates. According to American Immigration Council research, beneficiaries of the Texas Dream Act have earned $33 billion more than they would have without a college degree, resulting in more than $28.5 billion in additional economic activity in Texas. If the Texas Dream Act is repealed by proposed legislation, Texas stands to lose more than $461 million annually in economic activity, including $244.4 million in lost wages and $216.9 million in diminished spending power.

Authored by Chelsie Kramer and originally published by the American Immigration CouncilIn 2001, Texas set a precedent by enacting House Bill 1403, commonly known as the Texas Dream Act, which grants eligible undocumented students access to in-state tuition rates at public colleges and universities.....

Tariffs may bring factories back to American soil, but without enough skilled workers, the manufacturing revival could stall before it starts. As the U.S. faces a growing labor gap, especially in critical industries, immigration reform emerges as a necessary piece of the puzzle. To succeed, the Trump Administration's economic agenda must balance strong border security with a bold, practical plan to grow the workforce.

As the U.S. gears up for a potential manufacturing resurgence driven by the Trump Administration’s tariffs and trade policies, a crucial challenge looms: where will the workers come from? While tariffs may bring production back to American soil, the success of this industrial comeback will depend ...

Should Texas legalize online sports betting? In this thought-provoking analysis, Kyle Scott argues from a conservative perspective rooted in federalism and subsidiarity, examining the balance between economic gain and social cost. With billions in tax revenue and thousands of jobs at stake—alongside rising debt and addiction—Scott urges readers to weigh the full complexity of the tradeoffs before casting judgment.

This is what we have learned in the past six years: there are benefits and drawbacks with the legalization of online sports betting. Like Thomas Sowell wrote, “there are no solutions, only tradeoffs.” It is for the state legislature and voters to decide if the tradeoffs are worth it.

Rural America is experiencing challenging economic times. Agricultural exports have not kept pace with imports since 2022, resulting in the U.S. agricultural trade deficit reaching $32 billion for FY2024 — the highest ever recorded. The steep and nonreciprocal barriers imposed by foreign nations suppress demand for American products, harming our farmers.

House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) led twenty Members of Congress in a letter to President Donald Trump encouraging him to negotiate new trade agreements that boost American agricultural exports as part of his America First Trade Policy and Fair and Reciprocal Plan executive orders. The l...

Texas GOP Legislators must stand with voters and pass the 2025 EQUAL PARENTING BILL SB849, which is a GOP Platform Plank. With Equal Parenting Laws, kids in Texas would start off in court custody cases with a check box of equal time and possession. This helps the kids by preserving their right to a loving relationship with both parents as well as cuts down unnecessary court fighting over custody when both parents are fit, willing, & able. A judge would still have the ability to deviate from equal parenting starting point based on just cause to justify deviation. David Bellow encourages Senator Bryan Hughes to set the TX equal parenting bill for a hearing.

Texas GOP Legislators must stand with voters and pass the 2025 EQUAL PARENTING BILL SB849 (click here to read bill), which is a GOP Platform Plank. This important issue has been frequently in the top 15 top priorities out of the legislative priorities committee sent to the delegates of the Texas Sta...
