...this is from the same series as the video below, but without using the teleprompter. We made a dozen or so of these videos for Fostering Fortnight, (don't worry, I'm not going to post them all, but I'll link to them from my website) it definitely changes the feel of the presentation using it, but it doesn't suit everybody.

Heathfield is getting a new youth centre!

Demolition started today on the original Heathfield youth centre located in the high street, making way for a spacious two-storey building that will serve the needs of the community for years to come!

Cllr Bob Bowdler, lead member for children and families, said: “This project will breathe new life into youth services in Heathfield and it’s great to see it moving forward.

“The original Heathfield youth centre was built in the 1950s and has been added to over the years. As a result, it’s not particularly functional and limits the great work that our youth workers can do.

“The new state-of-the-art youth hub will enable us to offer a wide range of positive activities and support services for young people after school, in the evenings and at the weekends, helping young people build confidence and steering them away from anti-social behaviour in Heathfield.”

Plans for the hub were given final approval earlier this year for the demolition of the existing building and the development of a new youth centre building that will incorporate youth provision, Family Hub activities and space that’s available for community groups working across all ages.

Building work is due to start in this summer, with the development of the new centre expected to be completed by spring 2025.

First outing for the new "Tele-prompter today. Bit of a fiddle to set up, although I'm sure that will get easier once I get used to it. Definitely a game changer for those straight to camera formal videos.

I used a client's own teleprompter kit on a job last year, and was pleasantly surprised at how effective it was. Thought to myself I really should get one of these... Have a job next week that's exactly what this kind of thing is for, so have added this outfit to my available kit. It's not the worlds greatest invention, but when it's needed, it really makes a difference.

Further upgrades to the audio recording dept. Brand new 32bit, 8 channel zoom recorder, and a very practical, dedicated bag to hold it in along with some new battery power packs which mean it can record all day without needing to recharge. Such an improvement on my previous setup, I should have done this ages ago...

I've added some upgrades to my audio equipment recently to improve the quality of my work in this area. These elasticated belts (to hold the microphone transmitters on the subjects) are one of the smallest improvements I've made, and I should have got some of these ages ago. Now the transmitters don't have to be pushed into pockets or pinned to the back of jackets - they can slip into the pouch and the belts can be worn under clothing and hopefully the velcro buckles will not show. Simple but effective. I've got a selection of sizes and colours.

I Spent a lot of the day today filming at the wonderful Lymley Woods, a safe open space with great spaces and facilities for children. They have a crowdfunding scheme on the go at the moment, and if they can raise just £70 more, from at least 12 different supporters in the next few days, they will qualify for an extra £1,500 grant from East Sussex County Council which would mean a HUGE amount to them.
