Yesterday, I felt the warmth of our people again. There were instances that they went over and beyond expectation and these were all in a day of strolling.
1st guy: We asked a Kuya for directions. Then, he watched us go and observed where we were going. When he saw that we looked confused and were still struggling finding our way, he followed us to the end of the building and showed us the direction over again.
2nd guy: We went to Landmark and asked Kuya guard where the elevator was because we had a stroller. He said it isn't working but he will help us by bringing us to the employees access so we won't have a difficult time. He brought us all the way to the floor where we were going.
3rd person: Si Ate girl, she saw me enter the resto where there was water on the floor. She came running to me, held my arm and pulled me to the side. She said she got scared because I could've slipped and hurt myself.
These gestures looked so simple and yet so special, because when all these happened, they were all smiles. It didn't feel that we were a burden by taking some of their precious time. Their sincerity was felt.
It is true that you will never appreciate what you have until you lose it. Years ago, there were times I get annoyed being followed around the mall by a sales lady waiting to assist me. I didn't even realize then that they don't even get any extra compensation for doing that. They're just doing their job. I just wanted to share this so that next time you see people in the malls, restos etc or wherever, give them them the greatest appreciation you can give. Smile and thank them. The Filipino people and our hospitality is truly our treasure. It is one of a kind.
