The report outlines the past two years of work we’ve done collectively to reimagine a more just and equitable sector.

BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED
LISTEN. When I tell you I’m blessed, that is an understatement. Words cannot fully describe the ways in which we are gifted beyond measure. From the split second that meant the difference between a brief scare vs a fatal car crash, to the adoring smile on your baby’s face when she sees you upon waking up in the morning. No matter how small or large, our blessings stay abundant. God is looking out for you in ways you couldn’t even imagine. Ask your mother about it, she has stories to share of her immense blessings. Ask your granny, your auntie, your cousin, your sister, your daughter. . . We are truly blessed and highly favored, Alhamdulillah.

TV shows are the stories we bring into our homes. They shape how we understand the world, each other, and our place in it.
The latest study from reminds us that when it comes to Muslim portrayals, we’re still being fed a TV diet of stereotyping and erasure.
For Muslims this sends a message that they don’t belong or don’t matter. For other people, we risk normalising fear, bigotry and stigmatisation against Muslims.
Networks and streaming services need to embrace their responsibility to ensure Muslims of all backgrounds see themselves reflected in our favourite TV shows and seize this gigantic opportunity to connect with an underserved global audience - not just as part of a passing diversity fad but as a decisive shift towards inclusive story-telling.

Television Directors’ Workshop, taught by Bethany Rooney and Mary Lou Belli, co-authors of ‘Directors Tell the Story,’ is an initiative that introduces up-and-coming directors to prime time television. With the backdrop of active Warner Bros. Television sets as the learning environment, and top television directors, cinematographers and showrunners as the instructors, those selected to the program will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop that is unparalleled in the industry. Directors will be taken through the full process of episodic directing, from what is expected during prep, to working collaboratively with actors and key crew during production, through post-production.
