Natural Selectas are Production and DJ duo Patrick Godbert and Tom Povey, who play an eclectic selection of forward thinking positive vibes music, encompassing roots reggae, digital riddims and heavyweight steppas sounds in a strictly vinyl fashion. They started out back in 2008 as live dubstep act ‘Dubstep Pigeon’ performing their own productions using an array of analog gear and have also run ev

ents (most notably ‘Skank Out’) since 2010. In 2017 they started Natural Selectas as a means to get back to the roots of sound system culture. Shortly after that in 2018 they built their own sound system and finally in 2019 came the label. Their aim is to release limited runs of dubplates previously only heard in the dance, never to be released digitally and never to be repressed.

The first ever 7” lathe cut release we put out was ‘Stand Firm’ and we only made 20 copies and at least 4 of them went to the artists involved. It’s always been the most requested release of the lot thanks to regular plays on sound systems around the world so it seemed right to finally make it available to the masses. This release is unique to the lathe cut as it features Lewis’s version from the original 7” as well as a previously unreleased ‘dub’ on the flip.

Jonny Rockers Sound System DJ Set

Jon started as a box boy with Operation Sound System in 2018 and recently started selecting for them on the sound system.

After learning the ropes as part of Operation’s crew he started to build his own sound system in 2019 carrying out regular events in Preston.

He’s had a passion for amplifiers and speakers since being very young so building and running a sound system has made lots of sense.
Recently he’s started selecting more and more and working on his music collection.

They have DJ’d together for over a decade throwing dubstep and jungle parties since 2008 and in 2017 they started Natural Selectas as a means to get back to the roots of sound system culture. Shortly after that in 2018 they built their own sound system and finally in 2019 came the record label.

Their aim is to release limited runs of dubplates previously only heard in the dance, never to be released digitally and never to be repressed.
