Off from work and radio

Over a month ago, my family journeyed out to Missouri for a Homesteading Conference in Vandalia. Great times with great people. But I realized something bothersome: it was out first big vacation in six (6) years.

I am honored to work for an amazing company. whose name cannot be mentioned for security sake. Sadly, in the world of talk radio is an ugly side of competition: the invasion of privacy. In an effort to win, we take desperate measures to remain (or become) relevant! Even if it means learning the employer of ones' "competition."

I also enjoy the privilege to reach many of you through social media throughout the week. This September will be ten (10) years of broadcasting. This December will be twenty (20) years of blogging. Insane!

With dual passions on top of being a husband, father, and friend; things tend to get ignored. If we are honest, we all find ourselves putting things off more than we should.

It ends this week. I have a few tasks for work that cannot be ignored and should be resolved today. But there will be zero live broadcasts. I was going to prerecord something for each day of the week but that would have been a compromise that proved that I was not committed to this much needed disconnection.

As I take these drastic measures, I ask you to be equally bold! Do not let well-intentioned endeavors cripple your effectiveness to pursue what G_d has put before you. If you find yourself overcommitted as I was; pray that the Lord would deliver you from the Martha spirit. It's task oriented and tiring!

Worse, it's exhausting to constantly be living for many people who will not reciprocate your commitment. Understand to what that you are committed. Sometimes, it's busyness! We just do things because being still seems abnormal!

Now, Adonai in this text means the Spirit. And where the Spirit of Adonai is, there is freedom.

Juneteenth becoming a nationally recognized event brings a recurring theme of humanity to the forefront: it's failure to understand where true freedom resides!

It is a holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. The 13th Amendment was passed by Congress on January 31, 1865, and ratified on December 6, 1865, the 13th Amendment abolished slavery in the United States.

Why is it ironic? The idea of celebrating freedom after it was already secured. Christians remember the Day their Savior died for their sins and also mark the Day He arose from the dead. That's when life began, when Christ secured our salvation.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in that the Messiah died on our behalf while we were still sinners.

Our moment of justification was and will always be a critical juncture in our lives that should mark our open, and lived, profession of faith in the Messiah. Our life of sanctification should clearly present our possession of the Presence of The Holy Spirit making us more like the Messiah.

Yet in the magnificence of the Grace of G_d for redeeming us; why do we not attribute such glory as a national holiday to the moment of our reconciliation to God?

But we do have a holiday! Easter!

Really? You mean the day of bunnies and bonnets? A day that is overshadowed with irreverence for the Savior? Why does this pivotal event take a second seat to our pride in color, gender, and s*xual orientation?

Because we are still dead in our sins and trespasses! Our conversion was an emotional experience that is lacking G_d glorifying substance. Why?

We have not grown from the old nature to become the new creations that we were meant to be. Were that the case, our identity would not be fixated on our perishing nature.

Therefore, if anyone is united with the Messiah, he is a new creation — the old has passed; look, what has come is fresh and new!

There is no greater moment to celebrate than when, in eternity past, the Lord predestined us to be redeemed! That is an everlasting identity to never be diminished by the likes of fallen men.

We just have to obediently walk in that reality!
