Se dice que el característico dibujo en forma de V de la cabeza de esta serpiente recuerda a una lira, y de ahí le viene el nombre.

La lira es un instrumento de cuerda clasificado en el grupo de las arpas.

The distinctive V-shaped pattern on the snakes' heads is said to resemble a lyre, and that is where the name comes from.

The lyre is a stringed instrument classified in the harp group.

Northern Cat-eyed Snake / Culebra Ojo de Gato Norteña

(Leptodeira Septentrionalis)

Su nombre deriva de la palabra latina septentrionalis, que significa "norteño", a primera vista esta especie es comúnmente confundida en nuestro país con la Culebra Ojo de Gato Bandeada (Leptodeira Rhombifera).

El género Leptodeira es bastante ágil, noble y también un depredador muy exitoso, muy común de ser encontrado cerca de arroyos a nivel del suelo o colgando en ramas no muy altas por la noche al acecho de comida.

Its name is derived from the Latin word septentrionalis, meaning "northern", at first sight this specie is commonly mistaken in our country with the Banded Cat-eyed Snake (Leptodeira Rhombifera).

Leptodeira genus is quite agile, noble, and a very successful predator, very common to be found near creeks on the ground level or hanging in branches not too high at night lurking on food.

Nature has something incredibly special and alluring... The colors of them.
It's a shame that this individual can be labeled as poisonous and deadly because of its brilliant color, however this toad is totally harmless and far from being deadly.

Es una lástima que este individuo pueda ser etiquetado como venenoso y mortal debido a su color brillante, sin embargo este sapo es totalmente inofensivo y lejos de ser mortal.
