These bills establish a special prosecutor and tribunal, designed after international courts, specifically for addressing serious human rights violations. The tribunal will consist of both Gambian and non-Gambian judges, prosecutors, and support staff.During his rule, Jammeh was held accountable for acts of murder, r**e, and torture. His regime came to an end in 2016 following an electoral defeat, after which he sought refuge in Equatorial Guinea where he remains in exile. There's ongoing speculation about Equatorial Guinea's readiness to extradite Jammeh back to the Gambia for prosecution.
