Like my baby said! 🗣️🗳️ We voted early and as a family like our lives depended on it, because they do. As a Black woman, journalist and a mother, there was no opting out of this election for me. Donald Trump is *factually* a threat to our democracy- that’s not my uniformed opinion or bias. It’s honestly been exhausting and frustrating fighting 2024-levels of online disinformation and trading words with many people who were bad faith actors manipulating truth— and yet that was my assignment for this season, from my corner of this media verse. I left it ALL on the field to try to serve the public and share necessary information about Kamala Harris, Donald Trump and politics in general. If you haven’t voted yet and still can get in line with the two hours remaining, I’m begging you to do it. Do not be a spectator with our lives on the line. Know your power and trust it’s worth fighting for. VOTE!

This election is unlike any other.

For that reason, and considering the role and history of the Black press in preserving democracy, theGrio editorial team endorses Kamala Harris for President.

A past interview I did with Kamala Harris has resurfaced online and was asked about in last tonight's radio town hall with Charlamagne Tha God. Here's my reaction to the way the clip has been edited down and why I think journalists must keep asking important questions.

A reparations clip on TheGrio was taken out of context. Charlamagne Tha God discusses in his interview with VP Kamala Harris in Detroit.

I’m so happy to announce is now an award-winning book! 📖 🥹 I was waiting to share the news until the official ceremony but I spoke with a mentor this week who reminded me that ALL good news is worth sharing. Congratulations to the other finalists in the “best first book” category and beyond. ✨ Shout out to all the storytellers pushing for Black Latino representation in the mainstream media. My deepest thanks to Professor Tanya K. Hernandez and the Latinx Project NYU for this incredible review of my book AMERICAN NEGRA. I had no idea it would be featured until this week and I'm honored- it's great to be seen and heard as a writer:

"It is for that reason that American Negra is particularly meaningful. Alford’s clarity about the relevance of Blackness to Latinx identity serves as a balm for feeling invisible...

The book not only educates, it also serves as a salve for the reading injuries of colorblind Latinidad...American Negra is on my “best of 2024 (so far” list, and I recommend you consider it for your own."

Natasha S. Alford's "American Negra" is a balm for raceless Latinx reading injuries.

On this week’s episode of “Politics Explained with Natasha S. Alford,” we talk about why Black Americans came to overwhelmingly support the Democratic Party— and why Republicans lost these voters at key points in history.

Why did many Black voters abandon the Republican Party for Democrats at key points in history? Civil rights wins and diversity mattered.

Tonight is a big night with a lot at stake. Will the media get it right? My latest op-ed for TheGrio lays out the importance of asking the right questions of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has made dangerous promises if he's elected president. Journalists must hold him accountable at the debate with Kamala Harris.

I spoke with about the record-breaking “White Women: Answer The Call” Zoom she held last night, and she gave full respect and credit to for inspiring this online movement. These are just a few highlights from the article, which is worth your time to read in full on theGrio.com (🔗 in bio). I admit the wildest moment of my day was being reminded that women have only had the right to vote since 1920. People were born in the 1990’s. Let that sink in. Then you thrown in intersectionality and think about Black people fighting for access to the ballot during civil rights. We’re witnessing history and as a journalist, this week gave me a renewed sense of purpose for why I do this job— what a time!
