Leaning as far as we can into the macabre vibes of our elegant but oh-so-haunted festival HQ The Read House is a moral imperative! Celebrating both scary stories and scary storytellers is an essential part of our formula here at CFF and that’s just what we aim to do with a special event we’re calling POE THINGS: AN EDGAR ALLAN SHOW. First up, we have Poe historian and bestselling author of MYSTERY OF MYSTERIES: THE DEATH AND LIFE OF EDGAR ALLAN POE Mark Dawidziak joining us for a special presentation (and a book signing!!!) and then we’ll treat our audience to a secret screening of one of the greatest adaptations of Poe’s work ever committed to film. We were planning on making some kind of a Nevermore joke here but it never really got past the workshopping phase. So in closing we’d just like to say that you should come to this because it is cool and since you are so cool too we think you’re really going to appreciate it.

It turns out that the combination of one of our favorite filmmakers working with one of our favorite authors makes for a damn fine time at the movies. This is one of about 87 reasons why we’re stoked to have the opportunity to screen Jill Gevargizian’s GHOST GAME. (Also, much appreciation to the lovely folks at DREAD for allowing us to share this film with our 2024 audience)! We’re equally grateful to screenwriter/author Adam Cesare, who not only guest-programmed a secret screening for our audience but will also give attendees an early peek at his upcoming CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD 3. All this is to say stay away from Ghost Game if you hate cool horror and/or fun times. For the rest of us, this is what we’ve been training for, and we’re damn glad to have Jill, Adam, and some of the film’s cast joining us for the screening.
