Here is a view from the second floor window overlooking the International Quilt Festival in Houston.
Things are looking good. Lots of shopping going on down there.
Today Vicki Starr Knepp and I spent the day making dog beds for some local rescues. Along with donations from fellow guild member Cathy Irwin I was able to deliver 30 more beds. These beds are possible because of fabric, batting and polyfil donations from my guild, the LeTort Quilters of Carlisle. This brings our total pet bed donations to 399. Wow. That’s a lot of comfort going to dog’s needing a little TLC.
Here’s a video of the main part of my new studio space. And I do understand how lucky I am to have such a great space. But I have worked so very hard over the years to get to this. Enjoy the tour.
Here is a video of the back part of my new studio space. I have been quilting for 40 years and this is the first time I custom designed my space. Don’t misunderstand, I’ve had some amazing spaces over the years but previously the area existed and I worked with that space. This time I got to start from scratch.
1st quilt was made by Maria Shell
2nd quilt was made by Susan Brubaker Knapp, fiber artist
Enjoy!
Here is a short video of my new office space. It was great to be able to create my space from scratch. It’s very efficient so filling your online orders is a breeze. I love my view as well as the awesome light fixture I found on Etsy from Smaga Paperwood. The green leaves on the inside of the light are the same as the accent wall. Fun.
I’m waiting to do more organizing in my studio before sharing photos. My heating guy needs to go through my room to complete some work. He was going to come Monday…then Tuesday…then Wednesday…..etc. I’m being very patient because his only reason for rescheduling is he has customers with no heat. They are and should be his priority. I have plenty to keep me busy in the mean time.
I’ve been quiet on social media because we moved. After 32 years in the same location…..we accumulated a lot of stuff. Apparently more went in than came out. There was lots of packing to do. We were very fortunate to sell our old house to the first family that walked through. And for those of you who have followed me for a while you know we bonded with some of the critters….deer, squirrels but mostly the vultures. The new owners agreed to take care of all our animal friends making them the perfect buyers.
Tap the video to see our new view from the upper deck and kitchen window. We are going to enjoy this view for a very long time.
Things at the new home are a work in progress due to many contractors being delayed due to Covid and of course the many issues with supply chains. If all goes well I should be back sewing next week.
We are waiting for our frig and stove to be delivered. We ordered them one full year ago! We have temporary appliances to hold us over. We are living in some crazy times.
Happy New Year
Here is a short video of my finished test/sample project. Oh, I learned a lot and truly enjoyed testing some of my ideas. This will hang in my studio.
Here’s a short video .... following my marked lines. Karen McTavish recommended Ronda's Mini Arc. Thanks Karen for the recommendation as I still find this as my go-to ruler for following a line.
This is one of the areas where I still feel I need more practice. Sometimes I go a little off of my marked line. Practice...practice....practice
