The transport minister gave four months to the Chinese company to procure the new busses and bring them to Karachi. “After completing all the legal formalities, the fleet of 500 busses, should reach the port city in four months,” he said.

Meanwhile, another fleet of 30 buses for Peoples Bus Service has reached Karachi to join the bus service that was inaugurated recently by PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari .

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has increased the tax amount on business class passengers from Rs10,000 to Rs50,000.

The tax will be applicable for travel from today (July 1, 2022) regardless of the issuance of tickets.

“All business class passengers whose tickets are already issued for travel on July 1 or later are hereby informed that this difference may be collected at the airport by airline staff,” the notification said.

Confirming the development, the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) spokesperson said that the tax hike will not affect the price of the national carrier’s tickets because its planes do not have business class facilities.

He clarified that on PIA’s economy plus class, similar taxes which are applicable to the economy class are applied.

What does a man who lived a thousand years ago have to do with the camera on your phone, you might be wondering. Everything.

Ibn al-Haytham, who was born in 965 CE, is widely regarded as the first scientist in history. He also created the camera obscura, which was the precursor to the digital camera you carry in your pocket today.

Al-Haytham worked for many years under the patronage of the Ismaili Imam and Fatimid Caliph Hazrat al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, in Cairo. It was in following the scientific method of physically testing his hypothesis of how the eye works that he discovered the camera obscura, which is the latin term for a dark room or box with a hole in it through which light shines, projecting an image from one side to the other. This is also known as the pinhole camera .

The Indian Supreme Court on Friday said that BJP leader Nupur Sharma should “apologise to the whole country” for igniting tension with her comments on Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The top court made the remarks during the hearing of a petition filed by the BJP member seeking the transfer of the multiple FIRs filed against her across the country to New Delhi, citing threats .
The way she has ignited emotions across the country, this lady is single-handedly responsible for what is happening in the country," stated the judges, according to NDTV.

Sharma’s remarks have triggered a strong reaction from across the world, sparking protests in India in which several people lost their lives and heightened the rifts between Hindus and Muslims .
We saw the debate on how she was incited. But the way she said all this and later says she was a lawyer it is shameful. She should apologise to the whole country," said Justice Surya Kant.

During the course of the hearing, the BJP leader’s lawyer said she had not used her name on the petition because of the threats.

"She faces threats or she has become a security threat," the judges stated and snubbed Nupur Sharma's argument on "equal treatment" and "no discrimination".

The SC said that her comments showed her "obstinate and arrogant” character.

"So what if she is the spokesperson of a party. She thinks she has back up of power and can make any statement without respect to the law of the land?"

At this, her lawyer said Nupur Sharma had only responded to a question by the anchor during a TV debate.

"There should have been a case against the host then," said the court.

"She cannot be put on the pedestal of a journalist when she goes and lambasts on a TV debate and makes irresponsible statements without thinking of the ramifications and consequences that it will have on the fabric of society.

The Supreme Court (SC) announced on Friday that the re-polling for the Punjab chief minister's post will be held on July 22 and not today as per the orders of the Lahore High Court.

The PTI had filed a plea in the top court seeking the annulment of the Lahore High Court's (LHC) decision that had ordered the governor to hold the re-count for the Punjab CM's slot today at 4pm.

During today's hearing, Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi — a contender for the CM's slot — had initially agreed that Hamza Shahbaz could remain the chief minister till July 17, but the PTI disagreed.

In a bid to break the deadlock, the top court directed Elahi to speak to PTI Chairman Imran Khan and come up with a solution — as it adjourned the hearing for the third time.

After the hearing resumed, all the parties agreed that Hamza would remain the chief minister till the re-election — July 22.

In a 4-1 split decision a day earlier, the LHC had wrapped up PTI's case against Hamza's election to the CM's slot, while ordering a recount of the votes cast during the Punjab chief executive's election but with the exclusion of 25 PTI dissidents' votes, in line with the apex court's interpretation of Article 63(A).

But in its bid to remove Hamza from the post of Punjab chief minister, PTI had earlier in the day approached the SC to challenge the orders of the LHC to hold a vote recount on the CM poll — which was held on April 16.

The SC accepted the plea for an immediate hearing and formed a three-member bench. The hearing was headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, while Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail were part of the bench, too.

They showed important sections of the facility including the welding section, assembly line, testing section, and paint shop .
According to details, MG’s first locally assembled offering in Pakistan will be HS SUV. The company will offer HS in two variants — MG HS 1.5T and 2.0T All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) variants .
The company has already assembled and tested a few units of MG HS 1.5T. As per its recent social media post, MG also took a locally assembled HS 2.0T AWD on a trip to Khunjerab Pass as part of its marketing-cum-testing exercise .
A senior MG official confirmed that the company will launch locally assembled vehicles by the second half of 2022. He highlighted that MG has invested $100 million in this project thus far. Out of this, the company has already committed $86 million to the factory and is actively spending the remaining $14 million on its completion.

The tour also included a visit to the construction site for MG’s second facility that will produce electric vehicles (EVs) and plugin hybrids (PHEVs). The official stated that the company is working closely with the Engineering Development Board (EDB) and is incorporating their recommendations .
MG HS is among the most sought-after crossover SUVs in Pakistan, while other vehicles have also received appreciation from the masses. Now that the company is ready to hit the market with locally assembled cars, it will be interesting to see how its position changes .

Fifteen years ago to this day, the iPhone, the revolutionary device presented to the world by the late Steve Jobs, officially went on sale .
The first ‌iPhone‌ was announced by Steve Jobs on January 9, 2007, and went on sale on June 29, 2007. "An iPod, a phone, an internet mobile communicator... these are not three separate devices," Jobs famously said. "Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone," he added.

Ever since its debut, the ‌iPhone‌ has gone on to change the world and the mobile technology industry forever. After its launch on June 29, 2007, it took only 74 days before Apple announced it had sold over 1 million iPhones. The first ‌iPhone‌ retailed for $499.

Fifteen years later, the ‌iPhone‌ has completely evolved, featuring advanced performance capabilities, and cameras, accompanied by iOS and the App Store, which the first ‌iPhone‌ did not have. In an interview that was published yesterday ahead of the anniversary, Apple's Greg Joswiak and other Apple executives involved in the development of the ‌iPhone‌ discussed what it was like launching the ‌iPhone‌ and how it defined the industry for years to come .

Surveillance footage of a man mercilessly beating a lady doctor at a police station in Bahawalpur went viral over social media.

In the short video clip, a man, identified as Adeel, can be seen beating a woman as she fell to the ground after being struck several times. The man continues to throw slaps and punches at the woman, who is still on the ground and trying to defend herself.

Meanwhile, a police official, coming from behind, slaps the man on his neck. Other people in the video can be seen trying to deescalate the situation as the lady doctor tries to fight back.

According to the Punjab Police, the lady doctor and her husband had a dispute for which they were asked to come to the police station. However, the woman's husband did not come and sent his cousin Adeel instead.

They said that an argument broke out between the woman and the man after which Adeel assaulted the lady doctor, adding that the man was immediately arrested and sent to prison .
The police also said that the SHO of the police station has been removed from his position as he could not stop the incident from happening.

Further investigation is underway, they added .

30/06/2022

To revive its stalled $6 billion loan programme, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has set four tough prior conditions -- increasing electricity tariffs, the cabinet taking the decision to gradually impose Rs50 per litre petroleum levy to collect Rs855 billion, and ending the government’s role in determining the oil prices.

The demands came amid the government’s decision to seek the National Assembly’s approval on Wednesday (today) to amend the Petroleum Products (Petroleum Levy) Ordinance, 1961.

The law is proposed to be amended to slap Rs50 per litre petroleum levy on high-speed diesel, petrol, high octane blending component (HOBC), E-10 gasoline, superior kerosene oil and light diesel. It has also proposed Rs30,000 per metric tons liquefied petroleum gas levy.

The IMF has also asked Pakistan to set up an anti-corruption task force to review all the existing laws that were aimed at curbing graft in the government departments, according to sources.

After implementing the conditions, the IMF would present Pakistan’s request for the approval of the loan tranche and revival of the programme to its executive board – a process that may consume another month, the sources added .

Cellular mobile companies have once again increased the rates of call and data packages while citing a rise in inflation as the major reason.

Pakistan Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone), Jazz, and Telenor have all increased rates of different offers and data packages.

Jazz informed its customers while stating that due to rising inflationary pressure, the cost of running business has increased significantly across the country. As a result of these unfortunate external factors, prices of certain offers and packages revised.

Pakistan Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone) has increased the rates of call and data packages while citing rise in inflation as the major reason, but with just one-day notice.

The company sent messages to customers, while saying, “Dear customer, to maintain quality of services during ongoing rise in inflation, there will be changes in some of our offers”.

As per the revised rates the prices of Upower product which is currently Rs100 has been revised upward to Rs120 and the additional resources available to consumers would include addition of 1,000 SMS in All In One (Option 1) Variant while the effective date is June 28, 2022.

The super card plus which is currently available at Rs649 has been revised upward to Rs699 with no additional resources and would be effective from June 29, 2022 .
