Book Cover Design Tilt Sparks Creativity, Collaboration at MaRHS

To engage students in a collaborative project that showcased their creativity while deepening their appreciation for various literary themes, the English Department of Madapdap Resettlement High School launched a Book Cover Design contest as part of the school's 2024 National Reading Month Celebration.

Students from each grade level worked together to create and print digital book covers inspired by their assigned literary themes: Grade 7 focused on Philippine Literature, Grade 8 on Afro-Asian Literature, Grade 9 on Anglo-American Literature, and Grade 10 on World Literature.

“This activity is very helpful because it makes students read at least the summary of their assigned story or reading material first. This helps them understand it better and express their ideas in their book cover designs,” said Ma. Lorielyn C. Nunag, the school’s Reading Coordinator.

The designs were evaluated by a panel of judges based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall presentation. The winners for each grade level were announced as follows:

Grade 7 Winners:
CHAMPION: 7 – Matiyaga
Second Place: 7 - Maawain
Third Place: 7 - Maaasahan
Fourth Place: 7 – Matatag

Grade 8 Winners:
CHAMPION: 8 – Dayaw

Third Place: 8 – Diklap
Fourth Place: 8 – Dagitab

All winners will receive plaques of recognition and certificates during the Culminating Event on November 22, 2024.

This competition not only celebrated the joy of reading but also highlighted the power of collaboration among students, making it a significant highlight of the school year.
