Making a pizza peel for my buddy who recently got a backyard pizza oven. Used scrap wood for the project. The handle is made out of rosewood. The accent strips are maple and the outer pieces are walnut. Piece measures 27" total. The handle is 11" and the area for the pizza is about 16" x 12.5". The width was dictated by what would fit through my planer and I based the other dimensions off of some information I got from builds. Thanks again Mike! There are some problem areas particularly around the handle but ultimately I'm very pleased with the results so far. Next steps will be to put a taper on the front of it in order to get under the pizza and of course sand and finish.

Finally finished making this walnut and maple cutting board or cheese board or whatever you want to call it.

Was completely unsure on the design but after making these two smaller boards I put them together and loved this little river pattern that it made in the middle. A happy accident for sure.

Trimmed down the two pieces so that I'd be able to fit it through my 13" planer and then glued them up. As always I used my favorite finish - and let it soak all night long.

Side note - I've begun doing this in a foil pan and I've loved the results especially with how simple it is to do. When you're done you just pour the excess back in to the bottle and you're ready to roll with minimal waste. This board was a little too wide for full submersion but still worked out fine on the over night soak resting on the pan. Just a little tip for something a came across recently.

Throwback Thursday to this scrap wood project I made a few years back for my bike.
A lot of you may know that transporting beer safely is very near and dear to my heart. Nothing worse than showing up somewhere with all of your beers broken, am I right?
A wooden craft diy build project was born. This crate has come in very handy over the years and successfully transported millions of gallons of unbroken beers!
Cheers 🍻

Woodworking tip ⬇️
Here’s a little tip for making sure the hardwood you are using is nice and strong for your project.
Often times you can see the checks or imperfections on the end of the board but they can run quite far into the board itself undetected.
Here’s a method to make sure you’ve made it to the good part.
Each step requires cutting off about an inch or so off the end to test with. We used our Ridgid miter saw for this.
1. Try breaking piece by hand
2. Bang it flat against a horizontal service which will cause any checks to break even further. Try breaking by hand again.
3. Drop flat on ground and try breaking by hand again.
Once it passes all those tests it’s good to go. 👍
Some wood is better than others but in this instance, with some red oak, we lost 13.5” off the end! 😳😳
Sorry for the long caption but if you somehow made it this far start your comment with. “Hey now!”

So back Saturday. ⬇️ (Is that a thing?)
PHK and I made this little scrap wood escape puzzle prototype awhile back. The puzzle itself is called The Wit’s End and the object is to get the ring, which is seemingly trapped, off the pillar itself.
We re-made it with a little bit better dimensions. The ring on this one was way too big but it was still a very fun little wooden toy scrap wood project.
FAQ: I did not pay him to help me with this project. He did not do this project out of duress. He actually enjoys woodworking with his dad, me.
