In The Room is the debut album of The Elephant, an Italian trio composed of Gabriele Mitelli, Pasquale Mirra, and Cristiano Calcagnile, longstanding members of the Italian jazz community who after years of exploring the frontiers of the music together, and within a range of formations, finally decided to sit down and record some of the magic they’d been capturing in their experiments. So they locked themselves in a room and dealt with the proverbial elephant.

Across its eight tracks the album offers explorations of the intimate personal and musical relationships between these three friends, each expressing themselves via their instrument — trumpet, vibraphone, drums as well as electronics and voice — resulting in an intimate collection of musical polaroids that reflect the expressiveness and potentiality of the music they love. The trio are joined by three guests from their global community — Italy’s Cristina Donàa and Chicago’s and Rob Mazurek — who each lend their voice and poetic writing to the trio’s compositions.

Conscious of a mature and concrete emotionality, the story condenses into the core of feeling, devoid of settings and references. Cristina, part of that past, who takes refuge in memories, but with planning, still lives on. She is that beauty that makes the present even more extremely wonderful and articulate.
Precisely for this reason, in Hey Mary, her voice was essential."

Roll G in Dub is the ghost of a rap project that was never finished, trap beats wrapped in spectral manipulation that still echo around the club waiting for bodies to move. As with his first release on the label, Roll G in Dub offers a counterpoint to Moresounds’ more energetic and dance music focused work for labels like Astrophonica and Cosmic Bridge. This is the French producer indulging his love of hip-hop and how this fits within his dub approach.

The first edition of the OKÉ album Deserto sold out quickly. To celebrate this we've reprinted a small run of albums in white-yellow marbled vinyl (available on Bandcamp only) and commissioned Framevilla aka Undervilla Productions & Frame24 to create a video with KATZUMA. The result is a unique journey into the desert that Okè imagined with their music. The video for Equinox goes live today via Music Is My Sanctuary. Thanks to everyone for their support and Camille Dungy for the opportunity to synchronize her poetry with our images. The project was made possible thanks to Bologna Città della Musica UNESCO
