Interesting Journal is an annual peer-reviewed journal compiled of passionate work produced by undergraduate students from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Auckland. Interesting Journal exists to publish meaningful research that can have a positive impact on the community and lift the profile of our university. Since 2014, the journal has been committed to building a shared knowledge base

and enhancing the undergraduate arts experience. We hope to inspire arts students across the country to take their academic passion beyond the classroom, producing thought-provoking work that benefits the community.

Drop by the Learning Lounge B201 anytime between 11:00am - 1:00pm and take part in our FREE Writing Competition and Black-out Competition for the chance to win a $50 UBIQ Voucher, ✨ fancy✨ quill & ink set, and a copy of our most recent journal edition!

Need any help with writing or references for assignments you've got due soon? The Libraries & Learning Services Study Skills team will also be around between 11:00am-12:00pm for you to drop in with any essay-related help you might need!

We are now taking applications from Arts students (undergraduate, postgraduate, and recent graduates) for our 2023 editorial team at Interesting Journal!

Editors are involved in:
– Reading and assessing student submissions
– Peer reviewing, proof-reading, and editing selected essays
– Assisting with organisation and planning for our annual launch event

These positions are unpaid, but it’s an awesome experience (and will look amazing on your CV!)

If you want to be part of the IJ team this year, then please email [email protected] by 5pm Monday 20th March with your:
– CV
– Academic transcript
– And a short blurb about yourself and why you’re interested in joining the team

Extended deadline for this year's IJ submissions close this MONDAY (27 June)! If you would like to send something in, you can still do so until the end of Monday.

We are accepting essays written for any UoA Arts courses in Semesters 1 and 2 2021, Summer School 2022, or Semester 1 2022.
Please include in the email:
* Your name (as you would want it published)
* Student ID
* Code of the course the work was initially submitted to
* A turnitin receipt (please advise if your course did not require turnitin submission)
* The lecturer of the course, and their email
* A picture of you that you agree we can use if your work is selected

Calling all UoA Arts students (and recent alumni)—we are looking for multiple editors to join our team!

In this role, you would be involved in:
- Reading, sorting, and reporting on student essays submitted for upcoming editions
- Editing, proofreading, and peer-reviewing essays selected for publication
- Assisting with advertising and social media pages of the journal
- Assisting with the organisation of our annual launch event

Currently all roles on the editorial team are unpaid, however for those of you looking to continue your studies and activities in the worlds of academia and publishing, this will be valuable experience and look great on any CV. It's also a great way to meet like-minded people.

A slightly late introduction to our 2021 editorial team ✨

On the Exec team are returning editors Paula Lee and Nithya Narayanan, Editors-in-Chief and Lily Holloway, Executive Editor.

We have an all-new team of editors this year with Jacca Chang, Samantha Cheong, Kaitlin Outtrim, Shania Pablo, and Ilena Shadbolt.

Reminder that submissions for Edition 12 are open until 4 June—we look forward to reading your work!
