A group of friends hanging out in a Genesee County backyard in the early hours of June 15 saved a raccoon from choking. William “Boski” Messenger, who can be seen in the video hitting the choking animal on the back, said: “It was just standing up on its hind legs. Flint has been celebrating Juneteenth long before it became a federal holiday in 2021. This year marked the city's 52nd Juneteenth celebration. In addition to a parade, the event featured inflatable bounce houses and games, a face painter, vendors selling food and treats, and a ceremony honoring community leaders.

10 years later, Flint remembers the beginning of the water crisis
Ten years ago today Flint city officials pushed the button and began a process that changed the city's water source and led to to a spike in the lead level in the water. The switch occurred after a series of decisions by state-appointed emergency managers and state agencies responsible for water safety. The results of that decision are still being felt.

Sincere Smith was just two years old when he appeared on the cover of an issue of TIME magazine highlighting the pitfalls of the Flint Water Crisis in 2016. Approximately 200 people gathered Saturday night to honor the late Flint councilman Eric Mays. Mays was serving his third term on Flint’s city council representing the city’s 1st Ward when he died at age 65. He was re-elected to his latest term in November 2021.
Funeral arrangements have been announced, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Road, with the Rev. Daniel Moore officiating.
