A few days back, I visited coco.Brownies 可可布朗, in fact it is Taipei's famous chocolate cake, while they are best known for their traditional American brownies. They insist on using the exclusive American secret recipe brought back from the United States to create chewy yet soft brownies.
You can expect around 14 flavours to pick from, walking in, a beautiful colorful display of brownies are ready to be picked up. coco.Brownies 可可布朗 surely understand their brownies, I visited them previously on many occasions and I am always impressed.
On top of that, they have soft cookies, pound cake and other popular American-style desserts. Not only can you buy it through stores, but you can also buy various products on the coco.Brownies 可可布朗 official website.
This location near the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall MRT station debuted in December 2022, providing a new experience of Dessert & Wine and creating an American retro environment. With the dimmed environment, the venue also offers a variety of tea, coffee, wine and other beverages.
Starting now, they have pour-over coffee service, which starts from Wed until Sun, the times are from 1PM to 7:30PM.
Our pour-over coffee barista, Jack, gave us an introduction of their 6 coffee beans, detailing each one of them and their taste characteristics. Coffee beans from places like Ethiopia, Columbia, Guatemala, Guatemala selection is naturally sundried, and have a chocolaty taste. That's the one we had. It was pleasantly inviting and I see myself coming back to try other coffee.
Each coffee bean choice is a great pairing with the sweetness of the earl grey tea brownies. A relaxation experience in a high-scale cafe dining room.

Pastry bakers Ann and Ten are owners of Kimeru Okashiya. They worked together at a previous holding managerial titles, but earlier in their career, they both worked at Westin Hotel Group.
After working for some time, Ann and Ten both discussed and officially opened Kimeru Okashiya roughly two years ago.
Kimeru which means determination, and research. Okashiya which means dessert shop. Their foundation is to treat customers with warmth and service.
They use highly graded ingredients, for example, their flours are imported from Japan and France, the flours from France are used in their bread and Japanese flours are used in their desserts.
They heavily sourced Taiwan ingredients, for example they support local fruit farmers, she tells me they get guava from a farm in Yilan. Ann tells me she believed homegrown fruits have its perks.
Knowing she has tourists customers, she wants tourists a taste of Taiwan.
Their cheesecake is extremely delicious and pillowy. Try their bread too especially their satled croissant and they come in three flavors, original, truffle, peppercorn. I love the fragrance. I was in the kitchen area while speaking with Ann, she exercised love and care for her creations.

伙房烤魚, a bang for your buck grilled fish hot pot. 伙房烤魚 is originally from Taipei, they have opened a second branch in Taichung offering a different menu. They recently re-renovated, the dining room is more modern and spacious.
Now to get to the most interesting part, I’ve chosen the dual-pot, the pot is divided into two parts, both pot uses the sea bass fish.
For one side, we picked the spicy option, the sea bass is first grilled to perfection. The entire pot consists of one sea bass fish. The spicy option, one entire side of the fillet is grilled, then they are dashed with hot oil, my guess is to make the skin super crispy. For the mala lovers, this soup option will make your tongue dance, it's super flavorful, it's spicy but super delicious.
The other side we chose the pickled greens soup option, the remaining parts of the fish are used, and they are diced into smaller portions. With its unique blend of flavors and textures, this Sichuan dish has been captivating taste buds and warming hearts for generations. The pickled greens develop a tangy, slightly sour flavor that is both refreshing and addictive. This tangy essence serves as the perfect contrast to the rich and savory broth that defines hot pot dishes.
There is a fridge filled with vegetable options. They are charged at a fixed price based on the color of the dish. Check on the top of the fridge for prices.
Next is their beef with egg yolk, the staff tells us to mix well with the egg, this way tenderizes the beef, makes it more chewy.
Last but not least, you MUST try the spicy noodles, that spicy sauce was SUPER SPICY but a very mouthwatering dish.
For the sides, we had the shrimp and clams, they are in a water tank near the counter area. It's considerate of them to deshelled the shrimp for you.

Tucked inside the alleyways near the Taipei City Hall MRT center, nearby is the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park 松山文創園區.
If you're nearby the area and have an empty stomach, I recommend a Yoshoku-style restaurant called 鳥作洋食, it was opened last year. Combining Japanese cuisine with Western cooking methods, the menu boasts a blend of Japanese and Western cuisines.
The restaurant's 3 main principa are as follows: "select local ingredients", "adhere to the handmade", and "pay attention to environmental hygiene''. What you are getting is a fresh plate of excellent ingredients.
From what I understand, the owner has worked in many well-known restaurants, picking up various cooking methods of European food and wine from Spain and Italy.
Along the journey the owner also worked in Japanese-style restaurants, udon restaurants and other Japanese-style restaurants.
The restaurant is pushing a special menu for two for just $950NTD. For the starters there is two butter and bread alongside two single servings of tomato soup. The soup was OG, filled with flavor.
For an appetizer you can choose one, it's a no-brainer since I was a cheese fanatic, I had to go with their burrata cheese salad. Tearing open, the gooey cheese was a great compliment with the greens.
Two entrees to pick from the list, I had to try the beef burger which is one of their staple dishes. The burger patty was filled with juice, however this dish is an additional $30NTD. It is served inside a skillet alongside a bowl of rice and side greens.
For the second entree we had the duck pasta, the sauce was an interesting one, first time having a peeled pepper sauce mixed with pasta, it brings with a tangy, and smoky-sweet flavors.
Lastly, you can enjoy two drinks of your choice and a dessert.
鳥作洋食 is great new addition to the food scene! Make sure to go early, cause they are packed during our visit.

The birth of Réel started from Yonghe in 2016, and moved to Dadaocheng with a name change to Les Tables par Réel last June serving European cuisines.
Here you can find Hungarian food and Spanish's gambas shrimp dish. He chose this location, in a back alley area, kind of in a hidden area. He wants the customers to eat casually.
He traveled to London to attend Le Cordon Bleu in 2004 with a grande diplôme de cuisine et de pâtisserie. He loves to travel to Europe every two years and often flies to Spain and France, gets inspirations from the food he eats there.
His menu is really interesting to say the least!
My top 3 dishes:
1) pâté breton
A traditional French dish, in a squarish shape, in gelatin-like form. It contains sage, bacon, pork cheek, pork liver. These are all grounded together and seasoned using sage, thyme, brandy, wine and left overnight. It's baked and left for another two nights in order to serve.
2) Seared duck breast with pineapple sauce and confit croquettes.
The skin is super crispy, the secret is dry-age for two days, this forces the excessive water to drain. It is incredibly delicious, paired with pineapple coulis sauce and confit croquettes ball(almond, cashews, apricot).
3) Rum baba
A dessert French classic, is a small yeast cake saturated in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum, and sometimes filled with whipped cream or pastry cream. His version. A fantastic dessert to end your meal.

There is a small island in Taiwan called Liuqiu that houses an estimate of 12-thousand residents. Liuqiu has a diverse ecosystem. Chung Au Beach, a shell-sand beach, the water area is home to approximately 176 species of fish and numerous coral species. It is also home to young and adult green sea turtles
Roxanne the owner of Let's cool up! ice cream food truck is from there, and her logos and theme is all about turtles. Her love for the beach, she stressed that it's important to love the ocean and the sea animals, and protection for the ocean.
An avid diver herself, she has a love for ice cream, found out that there aren't any ice cream spots in Liuqiu, she started an ice cream food truck business in 2020 in Liuqiu.
Now there are two food trucks roaming all over Taiwan, whenever there's a massive bazaar or special events, there's a high chance you'll see them on-site serving ice cream, ice popsicles, and soda drinks.
Their ingredients, when there's fruit, they sourced from local Taiwanese fruit farmers and produced them into ice pops and ice cream.
In total, she has 10 basic flavors, but has them in rotation and seasonal flavors.
The ice cream presentation is seriously top notch, the base is filled with puffs and the ice cream goes on top then is garnished with house made chewy candies shaped like mermaid's tail and sea turtle.
They are now stationed in front of the 1st SOGO department store from May 15 to June 5th.
Currently she is serving chocolate, strawberry and Thai milk tea ice cream, they aren't overly sweet, a perfect balance. For the pop soda, there's two flavours, calpis and Korean citron. Her three popsicle flavours: pineapple, mango and passion fruit.
She tells me she wants her customers to feel full of energy, and share the joy with others.

InterContinental Hotels Group is a grouping of hotels and resorts. Under the Hotels Group is Hotel Indigo Taipei North which opened its doors in January 2020, situated near Jiannan MRT stations. Surrounding the MRT is Department stores and luxury hotels.
Within the walls of Hotel Indigo, is their main and only restaurant called T.R Bar & Kitchen. Their menu consists of Westernized food, risotto, pasta, appetizers and desserts. Outside patio seating is their sneaKOut Bar dedicated area.
What we had is a bit of everything.
For salad we had the mozza cheese buffalo salad mixed with endive and dressed in lemon vinaigrette, I like greens mixed with vinaigrette, kind of opens up your appetite.
Next we had one of my favourite dishes of the night, the chowder soup, mixed in with popcorn. The soup contains smoked duck breast and the popcorn lifts the soup to another level, a pure sweetness texture.
For the mains we had the Spanish iberico pork, a 10oz piece of medium cooked meat. This dish comes with kale chips, romesco, dressed with horseradish foam and doused with chicken jus sauce. It is an open kitchen concept, you can view the chef cooking right in the heart of the dining room.
One of the first times, I had the lobster risotto in fish broth. The base of the rice grain is Italian rice, dried salted egg bits, camerlized lemon romesco and garnished with lemon foam. The rice is on the harder side, to me that is a plus, many places have the rice on the soft side.
For desserts we had the lemon glazed cake.
If you live in Neihu or looking for a gathering spot, this is the place to be, the dining room is super spacious and a private dining room in the very back.
Not far from the Gangqian MRT station. Oh, there's also a beautiful patio area where you can also sit and enjoy.

Time to indulge in a luxurious meal in a moving double-decker bus operated by Taipei Restaurant Bus which debuted one and a half years ago.
The bus chassis is composed of Ford brand, remodeled in Kaohsiung, this $20 million NT is built to hold 26 hungry passengers. Eric Hsu, COO of Taipei Restaurant Bus tells me they have a 3-month hotel rotation, guaranteeing a new menu while enjoying the views of XinYi District. What makes them different is they operate every single day. Their main business model is to work with local hotels.
On a daily basis, 3 time slots are planned at 2PM, 5PM and 730PM. For this special joint collaboration with Grand Hyatt Taipei, Executive Sous Chef Phili and Executive BK have created Italian-style Mediterranean food.
While assuring fine materials are imported from France, the team wants visitors on a tour of the city while tasting flavoursome dishes.
For the 2PM slot $1100NTD, only Afternoon tea is provided.
The menu:
-Italian parma ham, white wine grape and fig fruit bread
-Slow roasted spiced pork neck, peach, lettuce, beet bread
-baked veal ossobuco pie, honey mustard
-70% chocolate cake
-lemon chestnut mont-blanc
-fruit skewer, Cointreau orange wine jelly
For the 5PM and 730PM, the menu$1800NTD:
-smoked cherry duck breast cucumber, cherry tomato, dill sour cream, raspberry vinaigrette,
- leek potato soup, truffle soft bread
- a choice between (spring chicken al cartoccio, parma ham, fresh veggies and herb) or (seabass al cartoccio, parma ham, fresh veggies and herb)
-oat and mango jelly, fresh fruits.
Dinner: As an appetizer, the culinary team smoked Yilan cherry duck breast for 2 hours. The seabass and spring chicken is wrapped in oven-baked paper.
All in all, for a first timer aboard the bus, it was a pleasant experience. You get to view Taipei's landmark including Taipei 101, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Agora Garden.
Grand Hyatt Taipei is the largest international 5-star hotel and is conveniently located next to the Taipei 101. The hotel boasts 8 restaurants located in the heart of XinYi.

小螺波XIAO LUO BO is one of Taipei's local favourite for luosifen. For those who hasn't heard of such thing,
Luosifen is a Chinese noodle soup and specialty of Liuzhou, Guangxi.
The dish consists of rice noodles boiled and served in a soup. The stock that forms the soup is made by stewing river snails and pork bones for several hours with black cardamom, fennel seed, dried tangerine peel, cassia bark, cloves, white pepper, bay leaf, licorice root, sand ginger, and star anise. It usually does not contain snail meat, but it is instead served with pickled bamboo shoot, pickled green beans, shredded wood ear, fu zhu, fresh green vegetables, peanuts, and chili oil added to the soup.
Here is Taiwan, the 1st branch started in Yonghe, when it first opened, a big herd of hungry customers filled the spot daily. Quickly expanded to three locations across Taipei.
Near the NTU location, there is a small storefront, approximately 40 seats in the dining room, we had two kinds of bowls, first is the rice noodles with crispy roast pork. A massive bowl of noodles, an entire bowl of hearty ingredients, so much that it was nearly to the rim of the bowl. The bowl contains a generous amount of peanuts and also comes with 6 pieces of crispy pork. $225NTD
Another seasonal item is the deep-fried shrimp cakes noodles bowl, it is derived from Tainan Anping's handmade shrimp cakes. Deep-fried to golden brown, the shrimps are full of flavor and delicious~ The springy rice noodles are really satisfying when eaten with a lot of toppings!
For the intestines, they are braised first, then deep fried, I normally don't eat them, but they are tasty and they are crispy, don't forget to order braised tofu! The pieces of tofu are truly golden brown and tasty although a bit nutty.
Cantonese-style salty lemon 7-up drink is a great drink to cleanse the palate.

There are multiple fast-food chains in Taipei, homegrown chains are growing in spades.
Taking a deeper look into a brand called 樂檸漢堡, the english is called ''THEFREEN BURGER''
From what I understand, TheFreen Burger brand is the only American-style hamburger fast-food chain brand in Taiwan founded by a nutritionist, which was established in Chiayi in 2007.
Three basic values makeup the brand:
THE FREESTYLE advocates a relaxed, comfortable and comfortable style, and lives a good life together in shorts, thus the logo design.
THE REAL, stresses the original flavor of all things, bringing out real food! Every authentic meal is just to satisfy the taste buds in the mouth of customers.
THE GREEN, the overall design of the store space is based on greenery. The counter is full of white and green interlacing, simple and elegant, and the dining area is calm and solid, creating a relaxed and relaxed dining environment.
For food, they offer standard burgers and we had the mushroom, which comes with cheddar cheese and bacon. Personally, anything with bacon in a burger, I am all for it.
Next is the chicken burger, the chicken is juicy and tender.

Beer Belly Brewing has launched a new series of "Love Brewed Wine", which transforms the spring, summer, autumn and winter of love into cans of classic beer. The two beers will be sold exclusively and in limited quantities at 7-Eleven on March 4th. One called ''First Love'' the second is ''First Kiss''
"First Love - Social IPA Beer" is brewed with three kinds of hops, which retains the unique aroma of IPA's high popularity, and is paired with passion fruit, citrus and other tropical fruits, and reduces the bitterness; the setting of low alcohol concentration allows consumers to easily Enjoy moments of conviviality and socializing. This IPA is like first love. Under the pink surface, there are rich tropical fruit aromas overlapping, exuding a charming atmosphere. The aroma of hops just embellishes the slightly bitter taste that sometimes appears in relationships.
"First Kiss - Belgian Wheat Beer" is brewed with wheat from central Taiwan and honey tangerine peel, presenting a multi-layered aroma and refreshing taste. The exclusive liquid yeast perfectly balances the fruity fat and phenolic aroma, which is suitable for the Belgian wheat beer with spice characteristics, and then decorated with coriander seeds, the unique essence is extracted at low temperature. On the Shulin side of New Taipei City, this 2-year-old coffee shop is surely a must-visit location. Already one of the popular cafes and visited by cafegoers.
This cafe shop is housed in an old red brick home, wooden doors and tile roof building. The location is owned by the owners relative. A picturesque spot inside and outside.
From what I gathered from owners Mr. Wang and Maggie, Maggie is tasked to make the desserts while Mr. Wang handles the designs.
Located not far from the Shulin Train Station, a roughly 10-minute walk.
It is a concept of combining design and coffee shop into a studio concept, where you can enjoy desserts.
With Mr. Wang's creative space, he combined architecture, space, art, coffee, and desserts to create a natural and comfortable environment.
微間素生 is the name of the coffee shop.
"微" stands for tiny, subtle things
''間'' stands for space, but on the religious level.
" 素" represents nature, purity and simplicity
" 生" means life or existence.
The windows from the ceiling allow the sunlight to shine into the coffee shop offering guests a comforting dining experience.
Their signature dish from the inception of their opening is the chocolate cake, matcha cheese dusted with peanut powder. a thick chocolate at the bottom, matcha from Kagoshima mixed with American salty cheese in the middle, peanut powder sprinkled on the top, a combination of Chinese and Western.
Second cake is the honey chiffon and fresh strawberries are coated in sugar-free cream, the cake is surrounded with homemade strawberry jam for dipping.
Seasonal and limited cakes are on rotation, so make sure to check for updates.
Note: Their cake is not overly sweet, in fact, it is a tad under the sweet side which is good cause most desserts are way too sweet. A great place to order teas and coffee.

When Blissful Shake approached me about a collaboration, it took me less than a second to say yes. I knew when it first opened in the Ximending District, Blissful Shake was constantly busy, lines stretching many stores deep. To be honest, I saw IG geotags often by tourists, and it rose to fame and it is considered the must visit store in Ximending. In this reel, I found two tourists, both visiting from the USA, and they stopped by to grab their most signature drink: brown sugar boba with milk. They made the tapiocas all in-house, so customers are getting fresh boba pearls. When I first sipped them, they were so bouncy and chewy. Texture wise, the best is to see them torch the brown sugar, giving a bit of charred aftertaste, the mixture is perfectly balanced. In a boba craze world, the ingredients are mixed and hand rolled to get the most out of the bobas, using the machine to cut into precise boba pearls. The store has many walls to take pictures of including a blessing wall, when you choose the number(from a bundle of sticks), there's a wall where you can take a good luck poem home. Bits of Eur, opened in 2022, owned by Cameron is located in the Maji Square. In that location, it's a more family friendly restaurant. BOE Cuisine newly opened in Tianmu is more focused on brunch and fine dining experience. BOE which is an acronym for Bits of Europe. Cameron's culinary journey starts from 15-year-old, he would do a lot of chores at his mom's restaurant called Galerie Bistro, he spent in the kitchen assisting chefs from prepping to cleaning. He worked for 4 years in the restaurant. It's there he flew to Crans-Montana, Switzerland and attended Les Roches, world's leading hospitality schools. He graduated with a Hospitality Management Degree, specializing in entrepreneurship. He would spend most of his weekends traveling with Europe and taste different kinds of foods. Every taste of Europe he brought to Bits of Eur, now at BOE cuisine in Tianmu, his focus is more on fine dining, a four course meal only available during weekend nights. Buffalo Mozzarella Caprese Salad, an Italian based salad, a great appetizer to start a meal. My personal favorite is their eggs benedict. Eggs Benedict is an absolute must for brunch. They use Japanese certified raw food grade eggs and are paired with homemade hollandaise sauce. BOE's Eggs Benedict replaces the traditional English muffin bread with fresh-to-order hash browns. The classic breakfast is infused with innovative textures and flavors. A wonderful morning starts with a rich breakfast plate! BOE's selected breakfast plate includes chicken sausage, bacon, eggs, baked beans with tomato sauce, sourdough bread, and lettuce. Pastas are also available, such as the garlic Linguine Aglio e Olio. The flavors are delicious. Others such as fettuccine carbonara, didn't try this one but the presentation looks appeasing. Cafe hopping is already the norm here in Taiwan, many of them have their own theme, today's post is situated in Banqiao City, kind of far from the downtown area. The kitchen is chambered in a large container. This place is very price-friendly, kind of amazed by their price points. Normally cafes with this kind of decors charge over $300 for a meal. Here the meals are under $200. The folding camp chair feels like you are in a campsite enjoying food with your friends. The dining room is set up in a camping. They have have a portable bbq set menu. Oh they also make their own cookies. We had Hakka pork with rice and braised pork with rice and oysters. Both were delicious. A new bistro restaurant opened not long ago in the north Datong neighborhood just opposite of the Shude Park. The area is not known to be a bistro hub, Cana Bistro has less than 20 seats in the window dining room. The restaurant manager told me that the owner is Christian, a dedicated pastor at a church in New Zealand. Cana, a village located in the Galilee region is from a story written in the bible where Jesus performed his first miracle by changing water into wine at a wedding feast. The store manager tells me Cana bistro is a place where you can enjoy white or red wine while ordering their menu items. You can view the open kitchen, the two chefs working the grills. The menu has not many items, but has its standouts. For example, my personal favorite is the bacon salmon pie, I saved it for last alongside the burger. The pie crust is crispy and filled with salmon filling. It is paired with a side green. My other fav is the classic burger, I love that it comes with slices of beetroot, giving a sweet, earthy flavor and sunny-side runny egg. After biting a bit of each dish, I just couldn't stop biting this burger, it was so good I wanted one more. Many other items such as the mussels, cooked with wine and hinted with butter. A very nice appetizer to start the meal. It was quite a portion, filling the entire plate. Great for sharing. Other notable items include meat sauce pasta,and pork tenderloin with honey sauce. 柑橘Shinn, a popular ramen brand in Taipei, with over 20K followers on Facebook and almost 8K followers on Instagram. 柑橘 Shinn is Taipei's one of the most renowned ramen shops, the 1st location near the Renai Circle is always jam-packed, a queue of around 20 people is the normal and is one of the beloved ramen spots in Taipei. They have three locations and each location offers a different broth and makeup. This time around, I visited their 3rd location which isn't that far from the Taipei 101 building. Once inside, there's rows of traditional high-seating dining room. On each table there's a 3-minute sand timer to signify the picture taking window before the noodle sucks the broth. What makes them stand out is the soup, they currently have three locations in Taipei. Today's reel is their third location, their topic is focused on fish, this one we had is salmon stock. The bowl is filled with amora from the sea, there are pieces of scallops, squid and flounder fish. Introducing Shinn's newest bowls, one is the citrus lemon salmon, of the two bowls, this tastes on the lighter side. On the surface is a torched scallop surprisingly it is half-cooked, with the center kinda raw. The next bowl is salmon clear soup, this tastes on the heavier side. 未來市集 is back again this year and promising even more vegan dishes and delights! I was here at the event last as usual filming all these bazaar events, this year's vendors seemed to have increased and vendors are offering more vegan options. All told, there are over 40 vendors, I did the best of my ability to capture all the food you can find at the location. It's located near the Raohe Night Market and the Songshan Train Station. Many of the brands already a household name all in one place. Whether you are looking for savory or sweets, this is the heavenly place for vegans! Taipei fast-food brands are evolving at a rapid pace, one in particular is on the rise is hotdog based brands. Alpha Dog has entered the space and what makes them stand out is their interior design details, mimicking like Western vibes. Located on the second floor near the Zhongshan MRT station, in one of the iconic old alleyways. Walk up the stairs to the right, you are greeted to a complete open kitchen and to the right is a small photo-taking area. This menu has more than hot dogs, it has all-day breakfast options, such as the platter or the zucchini French toast. Moreover the menu boasts a wide range of sides, there were so many we couldn't order them, but we picked the spma fries, fittingly inside a spam can. Being a tater tots fan, a welcoming side to pair with hotdog. Onto the main cast, in total 10 hotdogs to pick from, we had the double chili hotdog, two wieners, dressed with spicy meat sauce with cheese and jalapenos. The bun is pillowy and not particularly small. I noticed on the wall, there's a LA-style guacamole hotdog, definitely want to try that one. Other than the mouthwatering hotdogs, we had a pulled pork waffle-like burger, in griddle cake bun form, this dish is paired with in-house made mac&cheese. It comes with syrup to pair with the waffle bun. One hotdog place isn't complete without milkshakes, and at Alpha Dogs they have 6 options, I definitely recommend the strawberry option, it's a bit sweet and milky. For other options you can also order the soda with ice-cream on top.
