Fun fact: I started the @enarahealth program with a skeletal muscle mass of 29.6% and have built up to 37.2% with a weight loss of over 75 pounds. The average SMM for a woman 40-59 years old is between 28-32%, so you could say that I’m crushing it 💪
Thankful for 40 wonderful years on this earth, a wonderful twin sister, supportive and travel loving friends and some beautiful Florida sunshine ☀️✈️
Who is the problem here? It’s me. Now that I’m within five pounds of my goal weight, it’s time to address muscle mass. I know weight loss meds get a bad rap about muscle loss, so I’m doing my part to stay on top of mine. I’m still within normal ranges, but I’d like to increase. What’s stopping me? ME. I’m stopping me because eating breakfast is not my thing and I don’t see it becoming my thing at any point in the near future.
So how do I fix this? Well, I’m asking you for tips and in the meantime, I’m going to drink some protein drinks, get some protein collagen peptides that my nutritionist recommended and try to sneak cottage cheese into everything. Cheers!!
@enarahealth just added a new class to their lineup and it’s going to start you off in the right mindset! They added the Ready For Change class as a starting point and it’s the positive kick we all need. Things I didn’t know about losing 65+ pounds? Let me list them:
• my armpits have become pits. They used to be flat and now they are actual caves. Shaving is wild.
• no one told me how uncomfortable chairs would become 🫣 or how I need a towel under my butt for ab workouts.
• take your vitamins!! I slacked in the beginning and the shock from losing weight definitely caused some hair loss. I should have known better because my lupus go-to is losing hair. Now I know better and it’s growing back in, thank goodness.
• even with working out daily I sweat so much less.
• on the same vitamin note, take magnesium. Being regular is my life goal.
• pretty privilege (or thin privilege) is real. Make sure you’re watching your mental health. You are valid and important at any weight.
• on the flip side, body dysmorphia is ALSO real.
• it’s okay to celebrate what you’re becoming and to admire yourself too!
• BMI is the biggest racket there is. Watch your muscle mass and labs instead - there is NOTHING like watching your blood pressure lower without meds I tell you.
There are so many other little quirks and changes that I’m sure I could make a bunch of other reels. What have you noticed and wished someone would have told you??

I thought working out was supposed to be hard, and it turns out consistency is the most important factor.
Who knew? Well, probably most people 🫣 Meeting myself every day on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes or walking outside when the air doesn’t hurt my face has been a game changer in meeting my fitness goals. It doesn’t have to be complicated - just move that body! There’s plenty of time to add in strength training later.
When in doubt, walk it out, friends 💗
It’s not Christmas without getting presents for the pets! We stopped by @petexpodistributors and found treats for all our furry (and scale covered) friends 💗

Running shoes matter, friends! This may be old news to many of you, but as a new runner, I have never paid too much attention to the shoes I was wearing - I just got a pair that seemed to fit okay and off I went. Now that Norah has joined Girls on the Run of Greater Mankato and asked me to run with her, I wanted to make sure she was wearing the appropriate footwear. So off we went to our friends at River Valley Running: Mankato and Shakopee to get a complete assessment and formal fitting.
We learned we have the same size feet (Norah’s gonna be REALLY tall, I tell you), that socks are really important, and that shoes vary so much between support, flexibility and overall fit/feel.
We walked in knowing next to nothing and walked out knowing what works best for our feet - and that makes us even more excited to train for our races this summer. Have you visited River Valley Running: Mankato and Shakopee ? Show them some love!
