Reposting an unpopular opinion time: obsessively hating on “Mary Did You Know?” is infinitely more cringe than the song itself.

That song is not great, but it’s also probably the closest a lot of Protestants get to pondering the wonder of the life of the Theotokos.

Rhetorical questions are not inherently bad. The Psalms use them all the time. It’s worth noting that the implied answer to all these rhetorical questions is “yes, I did” because, believe it or not, Protestants like Lowry have read the Bible and know about the Magnificat.

Every year I am utterly confounded by the bandwagon of hate for the only popular song I can think of that centers on the Theotokos’ experience of the Incarnation.

If I logged every single time I got an ad based on something I thought about, I would be posting 24/7, so I'm sticking to the more blatant examples. This ad came up on my feed seconds after I thought about the word "lobotomy" -- Hell of a coincidence, considering I haven't searched or talked about this term, just merely thought of it after seeing someone struggling with their mental health.

My mind? Read. My thoughts? Visible. My privacy? Compromised. My state? Orwellian.
