Hello, HyperBaby Family!

It's official, October is here, which means it's the start of the best season of the year. Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls abound!
Did you know? We have plans for a most spooktacular game that we're hoping to unveil for next Halloween. I can't say much more right now, other than it will have close ties to our current developing title: Her Majesty's Airships. We have so much planned for the world of this game!

But today, I'd love to introduce you to one of our crew members in service to the Queen on the HMA Aerosphere. The Engineer.
This crucial member of the staff makes sure the ship is in tip-top shape. They're responsible for maintaining each of the complex engine systems that keep the HMS Aerosphere flying. It's not an easy job, and with a saboteur running amok on the ship, the Engineer's skills will be absolutely pivotal in repairing and landing this royal flying machine.

It's a challenging job, but we know the Engineer is up to the task!

Hey everybody!

Tuesday is upon us once again and we're back with another Hyperbaby update!

Last week was all about Amy's debut novel release. Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate that exciting event.

Today we wanted to step back for a minute and take the time to give a shout out to The Labrynth Games in Baraboo. They gave us some table space recently and let us show off our upcoming game, Her Majesty's Airships. Thank you to all the Magic players for sacrificing a table, and to the store for letting us come out and bring our game. We really appreciate the opportunity to meet new gamers. Let's give our resident author a little love! Amy H. Allworden is getting ready for the release of Book One : Immolation in her new epic fantasy series, Raven vs Crow.

Countdown Release Party, Day 5!

I want to share a quick snippet from Chapter 1 of RvC: Immolation. It's entirely spoiler free, so don't feel guilty for peeking! I hope you enjoy this quick look into the fantasy world of Raven Vs. Crow.

The following day started bright and cool. Leonor flipped a wet dish rag over her shoulder and scooped Ova off the floor before the toddler’s fingers reached the hot-handled pan perched nearby. She lifted the squirming girl up until her soft nose met her mother’s and their eyes stared at each other, both deep like distant night skies.

“You’re more trouble than a basketful of ornery polecats…” Leonor smiled and blew on the baby’s cheeks, eliciting a thunder of giggles. “But you smell better.”

A female scream cut across the air and Leonor jumped. She cradled Ova on her hip and ran out the door. Another scream followed the first, coming from the south field. It was high-pitched and terrible.

Leonor’s heart hammered in her chest as she rushed through waist-high wheat; the legs of her trousers flew around her ankles, snagging in the dry brush that hadn’t yet accepted spring’s coming. With one hand scooped under Ova’s bottom and the other cradled against the toddler’s neck, she raced towards the sound. Ova jiggled and whined in the hustle.

“Willa.... Jane!” Leonor shouted towards the line of stunted cedars that marked the edge of the field and the lip of a dry gulch that ran through the farm. The steep sides of the gulch fell into sharp rocks in the dry riverbed below. Leonor’s mind raced with horrible possibilities.

A dozen Bahramin sheep skittered from the noise, their fluffy cream bodies bouncing away. Leonor pushed her way between several offended ewes as the screaming separated into barely intelligible words. Two dust-covered figures rose from the ground just in front of the drop off.

Recently you may have seen more of the word “Steampunk” on our posts and you might be asking yourself… What has Hyperbaby gotten themselves into this time? Well this is a quick introduction to those of you who aren’t familiar with “Steampunk”. In a sentence it can be defined as such…

“A genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology.”

Steampunk characters generally look as if they were freshly shaken from a Jules Verne novel and sprinkled with an additional dash of science fiction on the way out.

As with any specialty group the above is true, but also there is so much more. As we are relatively new to all things Steampunk we had some trouble explaining what exactly it was to others in our circle. We have found its members to be a wide manner of folk; young and old, Sci-Fi and fantasy fans alike… I cant speak directly for others but I believe most Steampunkers are looking for a platform to call home and to show off their intricate and luxurious Victorian influenced garb. I have found it quite enjoyable to inhabit the character I become at events. Who knew a high hat was in my future? At face value some groups like Steampunk or Cosplayers may seem intimidating, but I have found the opposite to be true, they are us and we them, the only difference perhaps, is the nostalgia they hold for a world of steam and regalia that never was, but could have been.

We at Hyperbaby are looking forward to future events with the Steampunk community and hearing all the stories of these interesting folks. If you are looking for local events to see what the fuss is all about, we have some on the horizon that we would love to see you at!

Last week we were lucky enough to share some space with some fellow creatives at the AL. Ringling Brewing Company in Baraboo Wisconsin. We hosted a booth filled with our games and sneak peeks at our latest creations! We also got to meet the folks from Dr. Evermor's Sculpture Park and learn about the beer making process. Can it get any more perfect? Thank you to all who came out and new faces we met. Can't wait to see you at our next event!
