Check out our latest episode where we interview former BBC journalist of 30 years Hassan Arouni. ✨ In this interview, we discuss his time in South Sudan during the peace talks where he interviewed prominent figures such as Dr.John Garang and President Salva Kiir.

He also touches on covering the referendum in 2011 and being in Juba when South Sudan gained it’s independence. His love for the South Sudanese people, cuisine, and culture shines through in this interview. 🇸🇸🙌🏾

We are working on getting access to those exclusive interviews with our founding fathers and putting them out so that South Sudanese all over the world can enjoy an important part of our history as a new nation.

THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. Let’s revisit the affects of child marriage on young girls in South Sudan:

50% of girls in South Sudan marry before the age of 18. Not only is this a violation of our human rights, it subjects women to the vicious cycle of poverty, gender inequality, and illiteracy. Young girls should be afforded the right to education and planning the trajectory of their own lives.

Not only is the prevalence of child marriage directly linked to the economic conditions of the country, but this toxic custom only increases the gender gap and therefore continues the cycle of extreme poverty in the country. When we educate girls, we educate a nation!

What are you some viable ways we can break down the structure of child marriage in South Sudan? Comment your thoughts!
