THE SURROGATE (2020), a short, animated film by Ukrainian artist, writer, and director Stas Santimov, appeared in the Dark Frames Theater of Manor Post 26: Hell is Other People (June 2021).

Santimov also wrote, directed, and provided the artwork for his previous short film, ELUVIUM: REGENERATIVE BEING (2017).

We’d like to add our two cents: we enjoyed the film, enough so that we included the short film of the same name -- and the basis for the feature -- in our Dark Frames Theater for Manor Post 34: The Dark Side of Perfection (February 2022). Definitely recommend both.

Director James Dearden would go on to direct PASCALI’S ISLAND (1988) starring Ben Kingsley and Helen Mirren and A KISS BEFORE DYING (1991) starring Sean Young and Matt Dillon.
