Quirky Festivals and Fun Conventions I created this page as another avenue for sharing my posts from Parade Magazine's website. I cover quirky festivals and more!

I write travel and lifestyle pieces, people profiles, and more. Recently, I started writing about quirky festivals for the Parade Magazine website (www.parade.condenast.com), which indulges my love of all things quirky and wonderfully weird. (OK, maybe I should say "most.") I created this page as another avenue for sharing those posts. What I love about quirky festivals is that they're celebration

s of places and local cultures. People come together to embrace what makes specific places unique - whether it’s Roswell's UFO folklore, Washington State's Bigfoot legend, or the frozen dead guy buried in Nederland, Colorado. Like them or not, these peculiarities of local cultures aren’t going to go away, so people decided to just have fun with them. Some of the festivals I’m covering are quirkier than others, but all are unique celebrations of place. I recently learned about some fun conventions coming up on the horizon, so decided to add them to the mix. (Stay tuned!) All of them celebrate wonderfully weird aspects of American culture. Thanks for visiting, and please share the stories on this page. I'll be adding new posts two or three times a month.
