I know the anxiety of such tests can be through the roof, but I am personally grateful to our Creator for medical science and early detection.

Thank you First Light Christian Fellowship (Pastor Rufus and Betty Johnson) for your continued healthcare advocacy in the community.

3 John 2 (NIV): Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

Love you, Pst. Jackie

Join us for food and fun. Childcare will be provided.

Housing inequities in Linn County and “support to prevent homelessness is low.”

Disasters have worsened the barriers Linn County residents face to accessing safe, stable housing, but those issues are even more prevalent based upon a person's race, age, disability or other facets of their identity, according to a recently unveiled report.

Thank you Maurice. This reminds me of something I read recently, “There’s enough in the world for everybody’s need but not everybody’s greed.”

Mr. Ballard begins a new journey in the Cedar Rapids school district as the new Chief of Human Resources.

As the new school year approaches, we want to share one final note from Mr. Ballard as he begins a new journey in the school district as the new Chief of Human Resources.

Ballard has served as Principal at Washington High School for the last 3 years and previously Associate Principal since 2016. He will be deeply missed.

“Warrior families,

It's been an honor serving you for the past 7 years. I started knowing so little about the SE side and now I consider many of you as friends and family. Thank you for making this time in my life amazing. We accomplished so much and the energy and excitement were undeniable. I would get stopped in stores and in some cases, traffic with die-hard Warriors. We are amazing; that didn't nor won't change.

I am excited for the next wave of leaders to take what we have started and channel it for a new era. There is a ton of momentum; it's ready for what's next. And as for me, I'll be watching, cheering, and reminding everyone I see, no matter where I am, that It's Always A Great Day To Be A Warrior!”

LeMaster has served as an Associate Principal at Washington High School for the last three years. LeMaster also previously served as a teacher and instructional coach at Jefferson High School from 2014- 2020. “It has been a blessing and an honor to serve the Washington community over the last three years as an Associate Principal, and I am overjoyed to continue to serve this community as the next Principal. I am so proud of all we have collectively accomplished over the past three years and can’t wait to continue to work collaboratively with our staff, students, families, and communities to take Washington to the next level.” -LeMaster

Warrior Nation, let’s welcome our principal!

“This year, the administration of MICRO has moved to the East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG), who is accepting applications and donor contributions to the program. Loan recipients will continue to be supported by resources and business coaching offered by the Small Business Development Center at Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids Public Library, and SCORE Mentors programs.”

In 2015, a local couple came to the Community Foundation with an idea. Entrepreneurs themselves, they wanted to support new and growing businesses in the area through accessible loans. The idea was a seed that grew into MICRO, an award-winning program that provides low-interest loans and other resources to entrepreneurs in Cedar Rapids.

MICRO was made possible by the many nonprofit organizations, governmental groups, and donors who offered financial and administrative support. To date, MICRO has provided 24 loans totaling over $238,000.

This year, the administration of MICRO has moved to the East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG), who is accepting applications and donor contributions to the program. Loan recipients will continue to be supported by resources and business coaching offered by the Small Business Development Center at Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids Public Library, and SCORE Mentors programs.
