At the July 23, 2024, Town Council meeting, Councilwoman Denise Cave asked Lora Jenkins to do some fundraising events for the Town Museum/Welcome Center and to ask for donations at events.

At the July 23, 2024, Town Council meeting, Police Chief Paul Davis responded to recent inquiries about the number of police cars his department has. Chief Davis said that the town has seven cars in use, one of which--a 2017 Ford Explorer-- was purchased by the town. The remaining vehicles were purchased with federal grants.

In response to questions about cell phone usage, Chief Davis explained that the Department has 14 lines. Each officer has a cell phone and a computer for running license plates and obtaining other information. Service is provided through AT&T FirstNet Federal Government for emergency services. The cell phone service is free for the Police Department.

Chief Davis also reported that the County has been considering returning animal control to the town, which would require the town to have a trained animal control officer and a facility to contain the animals. Chief Davis said that the town is exploring options.

In answer to a question raised by a resident at a previous meeting, at the July 23, 2024, meeting of the Town Council a memo explained the expenditure for trustees as follows: the town normally uses two trustees from the Page County Jail, each averaging about 1,264 hours a year. The annual budget includes $7,500.00 to provide one meal a day and water for the trustees and the town employee who supervises them while they are working for the town.
Two part-time workers for the same labor at $15/hour for approximately 2,528 work hours. For 1,264 hours/employee the gross salary would be $37,920.00 for the two plus the town’s share of Social Security and Medicare $3,034 for the two, totaling $40, 954.00 or $20,447.00 [Minutes say $20,4777.00].
[It is unclear from the minutes, whether the supervisor only supervises or also engages in work. It also is unclear, although it seems to be saying, that the town employee also has a free meal because the trustee must be supervised at all times.]
