ygam’s co-runner, Catartsis, is back with a new solo EP — “Acier Leste” — a 5-track gathering of intricate tangible grooves. Made by processing and editing various recordings of metal plates, hardware working tools, and other iron objects, each cut takes us deep into sophisticated percussive mechanisms. Alloy-infused rhythms and textures unfold in deliciously subtle industrial breakbeat steppers. Agile acousmatic techno swings that bear the sonic imprint of the metallic bodies recorded and explored by the artist.

🔗 Release: Catartsis & Ōtone "Springs" 🔗

To celebrate our re-launching and to give you a foretaste of the label’s future publications, Catartsis & Ōtone are pleased to share the single "Springs", a fizzy industrial techno track originally made in 2018 by altering and fusing an array of metal coil springs recordings. Although based on a steady 4-on-the-floor kick pattern, the track plays with the spiraling and unpredictable nature of the recordings' source to create a noisy and frisky piece of club-oriented music 🌪

Following up on their first collaborative EP "Mechanical Gesture" and after 5 years of friendship mostly spent recording sounds, collecting found objects, and taking good care of metal scrap, Catartsis and Ōtone are delighted to announce the re-launching of the record label 𝘆𝗴𝗮𝗺 🔗🎉 Initially founded by Ōtone in 2015, the label now welcomes Catartsis as co-curator and co-runner, and will carry on its emphasis on tangible, percussive, and experimental music by sharing works that use concrete sonic sources (field recordings, found objects, and self-made instruments) as primary compositional material.

To celebrate we’re releasing a little surprise next week. Soooo stay tuned 🌸⚔️👀
