🔸Are you a business owner or any one looking to effectively communicate or powerfully pitch?
🔸Have you ever watched Sharked Tank and wanted to know what’s going on in the other side? 😱
🔸Have you ever wanted to meet a successful Filipino woman who cuts deals on the global level.. & learn some secrets of success WHILE still helping your community?🌎

Or workshop tomorrow covers it all!

“Hey there, I’m Erika Aquino—an advocate for creating opportunities and championing impactful ventures. With roots in the Philippines and a middle-class upbringing, my entrepreneurial journey began early, shaped by experiences in both corporate and startup environments.

My knack for spotting opportunities and seizing them has led to a series of fortunate events in my journey. I firmly believe in sharing these opportunities, generously leveraging my network and resources to make a positive impact wherever I can.

Today, I’m involved in diverse ventures, from co-owning an award-winning craft beer company to facilitating transformative travel experiences for first-generation college students. As an angel investor, I focus on driving change in wellness, sustainability, education, agriculture, and the future of workspaces, all while amplifying underrepresented voices.”

If you honestly answered this, what happens after? If I’m honest, it’s the very thing I used to be so good & effortless as: producing content. As someone who has been building a brand off of this, nothing is more jarring than this.. but nothing worth corruption of your own creative process, presence & authenticity

If I’ve observed anything, it’s that people are getting tired. Of .. this funny parade. Putting each other and ourselves on a pedestal. 🤪I’ve heard people feel so stifled because of the social [media] machine

I’ve talked to so many trying to launch into their “next thing” and get SO FRUSTRATED, because they’re bending and twisting themselves into a confusing playbook. Growth, social media and the content/information age can be so loud.

I invite you to do something counter-culture, maybe find some distance and let a new thing emerge. I’m experimenting with something new here and will be offline because of it.

Just remember, you have full permission to suspend for a moment the “Plan” and be open to what’s outside of that

TRUST that whatever comes from that place, when you are still, God is still moving & sees what we can’t

You really cannot control everything

In the past 4 years, I’ve entered into at least 2 seasons of complete surrender and “Wilderness”
1️⃣After a long term toxic relationship and committing to break my patterns and radical self-responsibility
2️⃣Leaving my full time career in tech to go full time into entrepreneurship
And what comes out of that place has been the most important, at times painful in the short term, but VERY important in the long term

The best things can come after you become completely honest with yourself and let go of control❤️

Going into another season of Wilderness soon because I could feel my mission evolving. And I have to let it breathe!

But I just wanted to put this out there in case it resonated with anyone. Have something to share? Join my pod tomorrow🎙️

Remember, YOU CAN TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT🤍

Our Soul Sistehood Summer Workshops continue tomorrow! ✨🇵🇭

Nervous system regulation is key to a happier, purposeful life. By learning to feel safe in our bodies at any given moment, we can have greater access to our intuition, more courage and clarity to go after what lights us up, feel more free from past challenges or future worries, and become more attuned with ourselves and others.

One of the first steps to learning how to properly regulate our nervous systems is to get to know how our unique nervous system works. From there, we can learn ways to support ourselves without being inundated by all the tools, techniques and methods that don’t take individual needs into account. We’ll begin to learn in a shared space together, walk away with a better understanding, and continue self-reflection over the next week.

About our host
Karoleen Decastro .coaching is a trauma-informed certified coach, artist and writer. As a coach, she helps professionals and entrepreneurs remove hidden blocks so they can connect with their authentic values and feel more peace and purpose in their businesses and careers. She does this through powerful tools such as nervous system regulation and somatic parts work.

Both of us grew up not very connected to our heritage, as a 1st/2nd gen kids who assimilated to our American surroundings, have backgrounds working in tech companies/start ups, we only recently started asking these questions, “what does it mean to be Proud to be Pinay?”

We found so many women of the Diaspora ask the same thing! What we love about this community is its from ALL walks of life, industries (business, finance, tech, arts, design, gov, etc) coming together, having relationships, ideas, healing talks & leveling each other up!!!💥

Many podcasts, events and many discussion groups later, we built the 🌸Sisterhood🌸 a one of a kind NETWORK where we can really dig in our roots & GROW together

hi👋🏽 i’m kat and this is my pinay story. i didn’t start my journey of Filipina self discovery until my late 20s. Up to that point, I was cruising along in life assimilating and seeing my Filipinaness as secondary.

for the past few years, I have been on this path of growth, discomfort, learning, and showing up for myself with the intention of re-defining what it means to be to be Filipina. It feels even more important now in this season of my life where I am hoping to grow my multi-cultural, bi-racial family.

I would love to hear your story and know how you came to find this path of re-defining your Filipina/x self. 🌱Where are you in your journey?

Hope to see you at the soul sisterhood today🤎🌺

Ok I did some research & reflecting. Have you ever been asked to share where you’re *actually from?* Have you gotten to use it in a way to positively shape perceptions and exchange the unknown histories & richness of your culture?

Read my latest blog post where I share how I found myself unfolding into this and making friendships along the way, people that leaned in to LISTEN more and and LEARN.

Because when you do the research and reflection on your heritage, the decolonizing of your history and are able to share the Excellence of the women, the artists, the leaders, in your community that you work with, it changes perceptions & inspires others 💛

Does anyone wanna have conversations about questions they’ve been asked about where they’re from, dismantling stereotypes, and how they’ve overcome it to elevate their culture?⭐️

If you join the Filipina Soul Sisterhood, you can enter a community of likeminded women who are discovering their roots, having HONEST vulnerable discussions like the one above, and helping each other Rise, prouder then ever.

08/04/2024

When you visit the Philippines, you can see the remnants of matriarchy in society. The way pregnant women or women with babies are given different or express lines in certain public settings, the way security guards or passer byers are eager to help a mom open her payong (umbrella - Tagalog) when holding her children and scrambling in the rain. Or even how the Philippines has had two female presidents in the past.

Sometimes these values can get lost from us, our parents, or our grandparents trying to navigate society in patriarchal societies in the diaspora. Or just navigating making it work for our families in unfamiliar places. Being able to uplift other Filipina women at different stages of our lives - in our career paths and business ventures, in motherhood, in juggling the often duality of our lives and being multifaceted women — that’s how Filipina on the Rise reclaims and honors our inner matriarch 🤍💛🤎 in what ways do you honor and reclaim your inner matriarch?

02/04/2024

I’ve left the church 3 times in my life. It was not because I don’t believe in God, I’ve always had a profound personal connection with God since I was a little girl. I’ve led on worship teams, I’ve seen miracles in my life and others. Ultimately, my Faith has played a huge role.

But I’ve had to allow myself to question. To deeply search, whenever the walls of the church and blind routine start to feel suffocating.

Growing up Seventh Day Adventist (Christian) and Filipino culture where I often heard “God’s will” - I’d question why we don’t question. I remember in high school when I begged for help from intense OCD/insomnia and kept hearing “just pray” MAN that would be a slap. Then I was sexually assaulted in college and felt betrayed by my God who was supposed to watch me.

the 1st time I “left” was in college, the 2nd time I was in a very destructive relationship and then some well-intentioned leaders in the church tried to “rescue” & fix me and this EFFd me up🤪 and the 3rd time was to explore spiritualtity and pre-colonial Philippines because it felt conflicting that Christianity was brought to us by colonizers.

And honestly I was sick of the self-hate and shame I carried with me so much of my life that I felt enforced by an condemning figure (now I know God’s love is opposite, it is grace-giving and has been life changing for me)

Letting myself “lose my religion” to find God and find Me has been necessary, its led me to odd places (literally) but ultimately strengthened what I believe in. I am a believer of Jesus Christ, but it’s been a very personal path.

My question: What is your experience with Faith, the church? What religion did you grow? have you experienced church hurt?

I want us to be real that the Cross was a tool by Colonizers but its ironic, because people have also found Gospel of peace and freedom. That there is religious trauma passed down and why people feel connected more with Precolonial spirituality, animism, etc. strange. What do we do?

I’d like to share my story soon.. but first would like to listen♥️
