Just published: Mass for the Maker of Heaven and Earth by Charlotte Baskerville (Encore Publications, 2025). As a starting point, this new mass setting for unaccompanied mixed voices incorporates elements of the credo motif, calling to mind the phrase ‘maker of heaven and earth’. There is extensive polyphonic writing throughout, and even when moments of homophony occur, the musical textures remain ever changing. New Publication: Praise the Lord, O my soul by Judith Ward, introit for SATB, words from Psalm 104. This is the winning piece from Hereford Cathedral Voluntary Choir’s composition competition. The first performance will be given at Evensong in Hereford Cathedral on Sunday 27 July, 5.30pm, during the Three Choirs Festival 2025.
