Rip Vicky ❤
The hearts of the nation are broken as we say goodbye to the most inspirational, courageous and beautiful lady Vicky Phelan who has sadly passed away. God wanted her back and has called Vicky home.
It's poignant that on Vicky's last night in this world that so many people sent their love to her on our last post on this page last night. We know she would have known she was so very much loved by everyone as she passed away.
Vicky we cannot thank you enough. You saved countless lives after you yourself and so many others were so badly failed by our health service.
You will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of every person in Ireland. To your beloved children, family and loved ones, we extend our deepest sympathies. You have an angel in heaven who will always watch over you.
Thank you so very much Vicky. We will never forget you.
May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

From Baby to Big Girl in the blink of an eye. Little Miss started preschool today and LOVED it and the Big Kid is just about to leave for her first day in secondary school. Where have those years gone? Best of luck to everyone heading back and starting school. I, for one, am very excited 😂

Beyond The Trees Avondale 🌲
Another incredible experience ticked off our summer bucket list. It really is something else. The views are just spectacular.
🌲 We booked a 9.30am slot having heard the queues for the slide are mayhem from midday so off we went on our little adventure.
🌲 It cost €38 for 2 adults and 3 kids, 3s and under are free and parking is €5. The slide is an optional extra at €2 per ride. Under 6s must slide with an adult and they take card too.
🌲 We strolled the treetop walk and it took about 20 mins to get to the viewing tower. There lots if interactive bits along the way. And then another 15 to get to the top if the viewing tower. It was already starting to fill up just before 11am with a 30 minute queue for the slide. I entertained the kids by playing eye spy with the people below us and filling them with snacks.
🌲 When we finished at about 11.45, there was a good 30 minute queue for the carpet, never mind the line for the slide, an hour or more I reckon...
🌲 We stopped by the restaurant, it's Avoca style and they had salads, toasties, hot food, ice pops etc. with seating both indoor and outdoor.
🌲 Once the bellies were full, it was time for the playground for a second time (we stopped for a half hour or more on the way in while it was empty).
🌲 In all we spent 4 hours there and the kids had an absolute ball. You can actually head to Avondale and just do the cafe/playground and pay the €5 parking. The treetop and viewing tower entrance is separate so if you're passing and need a bite to eat it is a great spot overlooking the playground.
🌲 It's buggy and wheelchair friendly. There's an incline but it's not steep. Seen some water refills stations, toilets spotless and plenty of hand gel. Lots of doggos on leads too in the forest park. They are not allowed in the treetop walk/viewing tower.
Have you been to Beyond the Trees Avondale, what did you think?
And just like that, it's all over. What an incredible 10 days with the kids. We started in Enniscrone at the what a fabulous hotel and town! We had two pool parties, went to Bray, , , (PRinvite), pit stopped in two sunflower fields, splashed to out hearts content at waterpark (PRinvite) and finished it off with a trip to . We did try to squeeze in the Junior Splash Valley in and but there were not enough hours in the day. If you've any questions about any of our little day trips, just ask! The kids' favourite (and mine and Joe's) was most definitely the water park at Funtasia Theme Parks]]. I just wish I could have got a little clip to show you what it's really like inside. The videos they advertise only seem to show the two big blue slides not everything else.
Anyways the laptop is open and the kids are at their last camp of the summer so I better get cracking. I'll probably hibernate off here again but I'm sure you're probably used to that by now 😂

Fort Lucan Adventureland - That one place I wish I were ten again when I bring the kids! It brings me right back to those epic school tours that you'll never forget. It hasn't changed in 25+ years except for two new additions - a Helter Skelter and a mahoosive wooden play ship at the front entrance. As always, the kids had an ABSOLUTE BLAST! Planning a day trip? ❌ Kids need old runners and spare clothes. ❌ Book in advance and adventurous kids need the full whack - an all-access wristband. Height restrictions apply on water slides from 1m to 1.1m. The Helter Skelter is 1.25m. ❌ There are go-karts, crazy golf and a wooden adventure playground to the front including ziplines, a maze, high towers, suspension bridges and more. ❌ For under 5's, Fort Lucan has a mini fort with a mini adventure playground, mini climbing frames, go-karts, swings and more. ❌ Adults CAN do the blue slide but at a cost, if you've just bought an adults admission, you will need to upgrade at the shop. ❌ I highly recommend you arrive before opening to get a bench in a shaded area (under a tree). ❌ Bring a picnic and lots of drinks. There are no water refill stations but the staff kindly filled our bottles at the cafe. Chips, nuggets and pizza are available on site. ❌ Free parking available to the front. Park behind a bush if its hot so your car isn't a sauna at hometime. Have you ever been? I'd love to know what you think of Fort Lucan Adventureland...
DURROW SCARECROW FESTIVAL - A fantastic day out not to be missed, it ends tomorrow! We've been attending the Durrow Scarecrow Festival for a few years now and it never disappoints. Durrow is a little town that transforms into a straw-infused wonderland for just over a week every year and it's one of the highlights of summer for our entire family - even Joe loves it! Follow the Scarecrow trail to one of Ireland's best wooden playgrounds before making your way back to Funky Zone (€2 adults - €1 children) and Scarecrow Village (€5 adults & €1 children). Quite an increase on previous years, in my opinion - we only did Funky Zone this year. The Super Slide is €5 for six tickets (1 slide = 1 ticket). At Scarecrow Village, there are lots of workshops throughout the day (see programme and plan accordingly), food vendors, discos, live music, bouncy castles (extra charge) and more. There are hundreds of scarecrows about the town, and lots to see and do, including a horse-drawn cart ride around the entire village (small charge). There's also a craft and food village selling all local and handmade items in the town centre. I recommend you check out the wooden toy stall (swords/bow and arrows), Superbubbles HQ and the Lego stall. Actually the kids fleeced us in here, so maybe don’t… 😂 All in all, it's a wonderful day out and well worth the drive from Dublin with a picnic in tow, and it's on every day until August 1st. Parking is €2. Durrow only has one ATM and yesterday it was out of service so bring cash! There's also some old school water hydrant refill stations dotted around the town and toilets are portaloos and/or pubs. The paths are narrow but I've managed every year with a single/double Out n About. The full schedule of activities can be found on www.durrowscarecrowfestival.com. #durrowscarecrowfestival
