CONCHÚR WHITE Swirling Violets

'The Swirling Violets record is on the Music Prize list because Conchúr White has a quality voice and his songs are mesmeric. The music seems like it might happen in some arthouse film with unreal colours. He gives as the small-town infatuation of ‘501s’ while ‘The Woman in the War’ has layers of strangeness. This is the domain of American acts like John Grant and Midlake and so Conchúr earns his keep on the
tremendous Bella Union record label'.
