📢 BASE NEEDS YOUR HELP 📢
We’re at 97% of our crowdfunding target and are onto the final push - this is the really crucial part and we’re calling on our community to do whatever they can!
Creating a totally free adventure magazine and website costs a lot, especially as we take real pride in the quality, diversity and originality of our content. In today's financial climate, it's more expensive than ever to maintain the high standards we’ve always pursued. We’ll continue to pursue them, we just need a little help from our friends right now.
So, BASE mates: We know not everyone is in a position to chip in. But PLEASE, hit the ‘share’ button and help us on our mission to enable and empower more people to experience the transformative power of adventure. ❤️

The wait is over! BASE issue 07 is flying through letter boxes up and down the country. As always, it's been a total delight assembling the pages of this magazine and it's an issue we're proud to see make it to real life🙌!
Gracing the cover is Spanish adventure cycling aficionado Sami Sauri – shot by Sergio Villalba – as she negotiates the mountainous waterfalls along the switchbacks of the Atlantic island of Madeira. It comes as one of a stunning set of images from the piece 32 Degrees North which documents their multi-sport adventure, cycling and surfing on the island.
These pages are an action packed celebration of adventure from all across our community, from a packrafting expedition in the Yukon to river trekking in Northumberland; crack climbing the underside of one of the UK's major road systems to exploring Mexico's hidden underwater cave system; a blueprint for more adventurous running to an exploration of the intrinsic mindfulness in belaying.
A massive thank you to all the legends who put their trust in us by sharing with us their craft, be it tales of expeditions, captured visual moments, lessons from the field and their art.

Falling – it’s something that most adventure sports enthusiasts, regardless of their discipline, try to avoid. When it comes to bouldering though, falling is a part of the process.
In scaling rocks by the hardest route, boulderers seek to achieve weightlessness and momentarily leave the world behind. Having only a pad for protection, untethered and unharnessed, a misplaced foot or finger could be all it takes to succumb to gravity.
MIDAIR by @louisjack___ starring @jimpopeonarope explores both the physical and psychological highs and lows of climbing and falling from a fresh perspective, and if the thought of falling through thin air isn’t enough to get your heart thumping, the soundtrack certainly will. Martin Johnson (@insearchofmj) attempts to set a new fastest known time on the 184-mile Thames Path—running from the Thames Barrier in London to the source of the river in the Cotswolds.
In the pursuit of a record-breaking attempt, a journey of discovery unfolds. Along the way he learns about himself as well as about the historical ties between Black people and the river.
Martin hopes his run will encourage more diversity in the sport of trail running and inspire others to get out beyond the city and run.
The film by Walks of Life Films will premiere in London on 16 February and appear on @patagonia’s YouTube channel on 23 February.
