JURUPA VALLEY: On 12-29-22 at approximately 2pm, Riverside County Sheriffs Motor Deputy Cordero conducted a traffic stop on a truck, in the 3900 block of Golden West Avenue. As the deputy approached the truck, the suspect opened fire on the deputy. The deputy was struck and went down. The deputy was unable to advise he was shot and needed assistance. A local resident saw what happened and came to the deputy’s aid. The resident called 911 and informed dispatch on what had just occurred. Several agencies in the area responded to the scene. The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A manhunt began for the suspects vehicle. The suspect was spotted in San Bernardino county and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit came back into Riverside County and several agencies got involved in the pursuit. SEB deputies also got involved along with the armored Bearcat. Sheriff Chad Bianco was also involved in the pursuit. The pursuit came to an end in a shootout on the 15 freeway in Norco. No additional deputies were injured at the termination of the pursuit. The suspect was struck and died as a result of his injuries. Full video on YouTube! FULLERTON: On 12-17-22 at approximately 2am, Fullerton PD and FD responded to a reported crash involving a single vehicle into the flood control channel at Union and Pomona. Units arrived to find a vehicle overturned with two female occupants standing outside of the vehicle. Firefighters were able to secure the scene and have the ambulatory victim climb up the ladder. The second female suffered a leg injury and had to be removed via a stokes basket. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the collision. Full video on YouTube! HUNTINGTON BEACH: On 12-14-22 at approximately 2:08am, Huntington Beach police and fire responded to a reported traffic accident involving a single vehicle on PCH just south of Warner. A vehicle had left the roadway and drove into the wetlands. While enroute, units were notified the vehicle was in the water and completely submerged. Units requested lifeguards to respond. Units arrived and found the driver of the vehicle out of the vehicle and on the side of the road. Lifeguards arrived and quickly made entry into the water to make sure nobody else was inside the vehicle. The driver was transported to a local hospital. BALDWIN PARK: On 12-13-22 at approximately 1:50pm, A Baldwin Park office CHP officer had conducted a traffic stop on the EB 10 freeway just west of Barranca. The vehicle and patrol car were stopped on the right shoulder. The officer had made contact with the driver and had just gone back inside the patrol vehicle when an SUV rear ended the patrol car at a high rate of speed. The impact sent the patrol car into the rear of the vehicle in front of him. An employee at a hotel across the street heard the impact and ran over to see what had occurred. The employee jumped the fence and went to the officer. The employee grabbed the police radio inside the patrol car and began requesting help. The employee called out and officer down with the location and began giving details to the dispatcher and responding officers. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the vehicle that struck the officer was also transported to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported. Preliminary information indicated the SUV a truck had collided which sent the SUV into the rear of the CHP patrol car. The investigation is ongoing. FULLERTON: On 11-29-22 at approximately 11:45pm, Fullerton FD and PD responded to a report of a structure fire in the 1100 block of Glenhaven Avenue. PD arrived to find smoke and fire from the home with a reported victim trapped inside and numerous dogs. Firefighters arrived shortly after and were able to perform a rescue of the trapped victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was listed in serious but stable condition. Two dogs were rescued from inside the home with burn and smoke inhalation injuries. A Fullerton police officer began giving the dogs water and oxygen. They were both transported to a local veterinarian. Numerous other dogs were found on the property alive. The fire went through the roof and engulfed the home. Firefighters were faced with pack rat conditions. No other injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation. Full video on YouTube! COSTA MESA: On 11-24-22 at approximately 6:50pm, Costa Mesa PD and FD responded to a report of a shooting with victims down. Units arrived to find five victims suffering gunshot victims. All were transported to a local hospital where one did not survive. The suspect fled the location prior to police arrival. The suspect turned himself in the next morning. BREA: On 11-23-22 at approximately 12:21am, CHP and Brea fire department responded to the area of Tonner Canyon and Brea Canyon Road for a two vehicle head on collision. Units arrived to find a sedan and a small SUV with major damage. The driver of the sedan was hit head on by a the driver of the SUV at a high rate of speed. The driver of the sedan was able to walk out of his car and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the SUV was extricated and transported to a local hospital as well. WHITTIER: On 11-16-22 at approximately 6:36am, LASD recruit academy class 464 was on a morning run near the STARS center training academy. The recruits were on Mills avenue near Trumball Street being escorted by two patrol cars. A total of about 75 recruits were in formation when for unknown reasons a Honda SUV veered into oncoming lanes and drove into the formation striking several recruits before crashing into a light pole. After hitting the light pole, the car became immobilized. Deputies said that if it wasn’t for the light post, the incident would have been a lot worse. After the collision several recruits were injured with various injuries. Fellow recruits and deputies quickly began treating the injured and ran to a nearby fire station to request assistance. Paramedics and several deputies arrived on scene and began triaging. Prior to ambulance arrival, several recruits were transported to several trauma centers in patrol vehicles. LACOFD said this action may have saved lives. LACOFD fire helicopters also responded and assisted. There were 22 injuries varying from broken bones, head trauma and a loss of limb. One of the recruits was reported to be on a ventilator. Some of the injured recruits were transported to UCI trauma center in Orange. LA Sheriffs helicopters arrived at the hospital as they brought family members to be with their loved ones. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 22 year old driver and no alcohol or drugs were suspected. SANTA ANA: On 11-16-22 at approximately 2:30pm, Santa Ana police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 100 block of south McClay street. The vehicle was occupied by three individuals. At some point during the enforcement stop, an officer involved shooting occurred. One subject was struck by gunfire. Paramedics arrived and transported the subject to a local trauma center where they were pronounced deceased.
