Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklin pouring their R&B hearts out or Method Man talking about the grit of Shaolin (Staten Island, NY) and Salt N Pepa “Pushed It” real good...and Maxwell, Jill Scott, and Raheem DeVaughn all made Us want to love and be loved at mind-blowing levels! What about Gospel music----When choirs and soloists gave honor and glory to Jesus Christ through the Scriptures and real life. "Just a Little Talk with Jesus" reminded you to take a breath and pray, and Mary Mary taught us to let go of "Yesterday". Did you know that there is a tremendous WORLD of dope MCs in “Holy Hip Hop”, as it's coined? Now, you may be questioning just HOW these genres can come together? The TRUTH of the matter is that God created everything, and in His common grace, many people have gifts and talents that inspire - even if they don't use them to the glory of God. We have the platform to display it all. THE TRUTH is that The Most High gave His creation the ability to make music and regardless to whether we agree with or fully understand its message, THERE IS ALWAYS ONE THERE! Anything The Almighty allows, serves a purpose! So although the combination of all these genres may threaten your sensibilities, stop for a second, breathe, listen, and enjoy. You never know-U may just hear the TRUTH in the MUSIC!
