It’s been such a long time!

Well, we honestly never thought this would happen but….

We are very happy to let you know about a new Cranes release on vinyl and for download!

Cranes - John Peel Sessions 1989-1990

The songs on this limited edition mini-album are from two sessions we recorded for BBC Radio's John Peel. The first session in July 1989 and the second in March 1990 at BBC Maida Vale. The album has been mastered at Abbey Road.

The album will be released on June 3rd 2023.

Adam Silvera's The First to Die at the End ★★★★★

Hurrah! I've finally finished my first book this year - it's been a long year so far of disappointing, unfinished books. I listened to this on audiobook and enjoyed returning to a universe where Deathcast exists. I also enjoyed the cameos from They Both Die at the End characters.

In this prequel we meet Valentino, who has just moved to NYC to escape his homophobic parents, and Orion, who lost his parents in 911

One of them is the first ever person to receive a call from Deathcast & one of them will be the first to die at the end.

Like TBDATE, the stories revolves around how to really live your life in one day, how to fall in love, how to forgive, & how to be yourself. The side stories were fascinating and I'm quite tempted to read TBDATE again because I just know I must have missed some of those Easter eggs.

Highly recommended and thrilled that the BorrowBox app in England got this one so quickly

Very sad news indeed. I bought my brother the Insomnia single in 1996 and it changed everything

We are heartbroken to say Maxi Jazz died peacefully at his home in South London last night.
He was a man who changed our lives in so many ways.
He gave proper meaning and message to our music .
He was also a lovely human being with time for everyone and a wisdom that was both profound and accessible. It was an honour and, of course , a true pleasure to work with him.
He was a brilliant lyricist, a DJ, a Buddhist , a magnificent stage presence , car lover, endless talker, beautiful person , moral compass and genius.

The directorial debut of Joseph and Vanessa Winter, Deadstream is the story of reprehensible video stunt-blogger Shawn Ruddy (Joseph Winter) (possibly the illegitimate lovechild of PewDiePie and Logan Paul), who comes out of forced retirement to go it alone in one of America's most haunted houses.

Armed with just a head-cam, selfie-cam and his enormous ego, Ruddy acts with increasing stupidity, throwing his spark plugs into the trees and padlocking himself inside the house before throwing the key down a drain.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙜𝙤 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜?

Verdict: ★★★★☆

I enjoyed Deadstream a lot, much more than I expected to. It was scary and grim enough with a healthy side-helping of humour.

It's windy and grey here - autumn has definitely arrived. If you're looking for a moody and mysterious book set in the 1950s and 1970s, definitely prebook Sarah Beth Martin 'In the Vanishing Hour'.

Spotify tells me that Roxy Music's Avalon is trending so I'm definitely going to give it a listen.

Avalon turned 40 in May. While I don't remember knowing it in the early 80s, I was a firm Roxy Music fan in the late 80s and Avalon was my favourite album.

I'm one of the few dissenting voices on Justin Kurzel's critically acclaimed film 'Nitram' (2021) but I question whether we're not feeding into Bryant's need for notoriety in a film that gives little insight into how he actually felt ★★★☆☆
