I asked BC's Health Minister Adrian Dix today about the need for a second Urgent Care/walk-in clinic in Nanaimo or at least expanded service at the one we have. His answer was 3.5 minutes. Here is his answer unedited.
Hearing from multiple sources a business man was in the parking lot of the former White Spot on Terminal Avenue in #Nanaimo trying to retrieve some stolen goods this afternoon when he was shot. Police, firefighters and ambulance arrived soon after and BC Anbulance took him to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. I’ve been told he’s in surgery at the hospital but it’s believed he will survive. We’ll have stories online and a full story on CHEK News on Monday night at 5 pm.
This is Dylan Pounder who I interviewed about Parksville's new warming shelter Wednesday. He's a young articulate young man who struck me as someone who just needs some stability and has been sleeping on the streets for just a month. I hope he gets some breaks and will look back at this time as a turning point.
