So Google has also decided it doesn’t want to pay for Canadian news. It turns out this is a perfect time to move away from the Google search engine. I just erased my Google search engine and downloaded Quant and DuckDuckGo which are much more private search engines. It felt great. Join the movement!

The company said it will also end Google News Showcase in Canada, a product the company uses to license news from over 150 local publishers.

You may have heard this past week that Meta has stated it’s going to stop sharing Canadian news on its platforms, Facebook and Instagram because it was going to face a cost to share that content.

As a result I won’t be spending as much time on their platforms nor liking nor sharing nor commenting on posts.
