Season 5 of Ireland with Michael kicks off on PBS on January 9th. This music and travel series, hosted by Michael Londra, has been a huge hit. Episodes from the first four seasons have already aired over 44,000 times across 49 states and are available in nearly every U.S. household. We are also proudly supported by Iowa PBS .

This new season continues the tradition of exploring Ireland’s culture and heritage, with Michael travelling everywhere from Dublin to Connemara, the Mountains of Mourne, and along the Wild Atlantic Way to places like Killybegs. He also visits some incredible spots like Killeavy Castle and Ross Castle.

The episodes don’t just focus on the scenery, though. There’s a spotlight on modern Irish craftsmanship too, with segments on cheese-making in Derry, bespoke gin creation, and sampling local culinary delights with expert guides. The season wraps up with a nod to Irish American heritage, featuring a visit to the Iowa Irish Fest in Episode 8.

Michael, who’s originally from Wexford and now based in Ames IA, brings his usual charm and passion for sharing Ireland’s stories through music, travel, and storytelling

I, Kori Heuss, am the fourth owner of The Iowan magazine, which began its long and storied history in 1952 in Shenandoah, when David Archie acted on his ambitious idea to start a magazine to positively tell the stories of this State, the people, the places, the life. The Iowan has been at its current home, Heuss Printing since 2017 and under the editorial leadership of Erich Gaukel. As Iowa's original statewide magazine, engaging stories and stunning photography reveal how and why we're bonded to and by this special place. We have worked hard to maintain the editorial integrity that has always been at the magazine's core.

Work and play. Challenges and opportunities. Insights and perspectives. Each issue is an adventure.

The weather in Iowa is changing and winter brings cozy vibes. In the current issue, we feature Madison County. "While winter may not be an obvious time to visit Madison County, it is truly one of the most idyllic places to be in the winter, says Teddi Yaeger, Tourism & Marketing Manager for the Madison County Chamber of Commerce. The charming, historic courthouse square, fantastic retail shops, quaint cafes, friendly people, and slower pace - what's not to fall in love with?"

Telling stories of out of the way gems throughout the state is what we do, what we love. . .and we know you will too!

There’s no need to go abroad to experience a magical cold-weather vacation close to home. The chilly season brings out the best in Central Iowa’s Madison County: Cozy inns, fireside cocoa, ice skating, twinkling lights, and a dusting of fresh flakes turn Madison County into a frosty travel fantasy. There is no shortage of quaint rural communities and destinations along the 82-mile-long Covered Bridges Scenic Byway worth exploring during this magical time of year.
