Stop the sweeps, provide privacy and dignity in shelters, and fast track housing. “Every shelter should be outfitted with wifi, central a/c, and enough meals to feed everyone that is as hungry as they need… People should have a right to dignified housing options, safety, privacy, and support.” - Felix Guzman,

Patrick Lyoya, 26, was murdered by police in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was stopped for an improper vehicle registration and ended up getting shot in the back of the head. The video is disturbing and tragic. It is clear he was senselessly murdered.

It’s an honor to be featured in the exhibition titled “Picture the Dream: The Story of the Civil Rights Movement Through Children’s Books,” which runs through July 24th. The exhibition traces the fight for social justice from Brown vs. Board of Education and the Montgomery bus boycott to Black Lives Matter, including work by influential artists like and protest signs made by every day New Yorkers. Thank you to curator and award-winning children’s book author Andrea Davis Pinkney, vice president and director of the DiMenna Children’s History Museum Alice Stevenson, and manager of museum affairs Alexandra Krueger for including our organization in this powerful and necessary exhibition.
