Falling in love with becoming the best version of myself each passing day.

Along the way, I’ve learned that the most beautiful and practical way to enjoy this process is to do so with patience, compassion and respect for my own unique journey and experiences.

Oftentimes we judge ourselves too harshly, for not being where we “think” we “ought” to be at a particular point in our lives, all while neglecting to recognize all the progress we’ve made so far along our journeys.

Let’s make being healthy cool 😎

Here are 5 things you can do for your health starting today:

1. Start drinking enough water.

2. Start getting enough sleep.

3. Make movement non-negotiable.
You can start out with as simple as going for a walk 2-3 times a week to get your body consistently moving first (small habits). Then progressively work your way up into more challenging movement or workouts depending on your goals.

4. Start eating better - That means eat more of the good stuff - whole foods, fruits, plants (I believe in you lol)

5. Keep good company - Energy is contagious. Spend time with people you enjoy being around. Connecting with others who radiate positivity, good vibes and generally have similar interests will excite and energize you.

Here’s how:

Instead of my regular plain oatmeal, I add:

•1/2 cup oats
• almond milk
• berries
• almond butter (1 tbsp)
• stevia for sweetness

along side taking a daily supplement to me from

Now I need ALL my mornings to be this perfect everyday 🥰

Two words this week: “Heat Wave” 🔥

Stepped outside this morning to temperatures already in the upper 80s. It felt like 12pm at 8am. Unreal 🤯

While summer is my absolute favorite season, some days can get uncomfortably hot and humid especially for those who aren’t used to extreme temperatures.

Heat exhaustion is very real.

Here are 5 tips to help keep you cool during a heat wave even if you have an air-conditioned home.

➡️ 1. Stay hydrated: Drink lots of fluid even when you don’t feel thirsty. You should also eat foods with a high water content, such as fruits as well as limit food high in sodium as these tend to dehydrate the body.

➡️ 2. Cool showers and baths help to regulate body temperature and can also give you a mental boost by leaving you feeling refreshed.

➡️ 3. If possible, limit using stove or oven use to early mornings or later in the day because using these appliances when the sun is in full blast will only make you and your entire house hotter.

➡️ 4. Wear loose, lightweight or light-colored clothing. (Dark colors absorb a lot more heat than lighter ones).

➡️ 5. If you're outdoors, soaking in a cool pond, stream, or beach can help bring your temperature down and isn’t a bad way to spend the day 😋

I’m not really sure how this happened, but Introducing myself - the beginner road cyclist.

I’m a believer in doing and being all the things you want to be.

From not knowing how to ride a bike 3 months ago to being here was simply a matter of consistency.

Was I scared? absolutely! I’m still very much new to this, and get so much anxiety but I do it anyway.

I realize that with each day I ride, my anxiety gets better and I become way more comfortable and confident.

I can’t wait to keep learning and doing all the things.

If you think it’s too late to start anything, listen, the time will pass anyway.

Just do it.

My morning routine lately consists of me gathering my thoughts before I get out of bed everyday.

As a content creator, I’ve become more aware of how much time we spend on our phones, on apps and constantly looking down.

I find that taking a few minutes before actually getting out of bed helps to center my focus for the day.

I start by thinking on the things I’m grateful for - both big and small - and then I start to think about the things I’d like to do and accomplish during the day.

I like to take one major thing as my target for the day and then make sure that’s done before moving on to other smaller tasks.

This is something I’ve started to do lately and I’ve found it helpful in keeping me consistent with my productivity. It also helps me with prioritizing the things that make me happy and give me joy outside of “working” ♥️

Sometimes, it is not the workout itself that gets us out of bed in the morning and keeps us on track with our goals.

It is the friendships, and unspoken bonds of those counting on us to show up. Sometimes, this is the difference between going the distance and achieving your goals and losing steam and motivation halfway through.

So today here’s your reminder to surround yourself with:

* People who push you
* Who challenge you
* Who make you laugh
* Who make you happy

So it’s been about 2 weeks since I learned how to ride a bike as an adult and I’m glad to say I haven’t given up but instead fallen more in love bike riding☺️

Prior to posting about it, I honestly thought I would be alone and that no one would be able to relate to not knowing how to ride a bike, but it was quite the opposite and it really warmed my heart to know that so many of us didn’t know how to ride and still wanted to learn.

I got a few DMs from people saying they felt embarrassed not being to able to ride as adults and to that I say - show me one person that knows how to do it all... I’ll wait.

As far as I’m concerned that’s what life is about - learning something new at every stage in life because nobody knows it all and nobody can do it all and because it's never too late to learn to do the things you've always wanted to.

So please enjoy the process of learning, failing and learning again because it never ends.

I know I am.

Health and fitness trends may come and go, but the fundamentals of good health will always remain the same.⁣⁣

My 3 favorite I live by:⁣⁣

1. Move consistently - based on your goals and the types of movement that bring you joy. It could be lifting, running, dancing, biking or yoga.

I’m a huge advocate of strength training but I also believe in doing what brings joy to daily life and these days I especially enjoy a nice long bike ride.

2. Eat more whole foods from the earth - basically limit unnecessary processed foods. ⁣⁣

3. Drink more water than any other liquid beverage. It’s the first thing I do everyday even though it’s followed by a coffee soon after 😉

We tend to underestimate the value of good health until we lose it or become ill.

Remember your life, your goals, your dreams, your passion, all need you to be as healthy as possible so take it serious and keep working on being the best you that you can be! 💪🏽

Finally learned how to ride a bike this past weekend. 30-something years later and proud 😝

And you know what, there’s absolutely no expiration date for the things you want to do in life.

You can totally start over, continue and/or re-commit yourself to learning new things.

If you missed it, check my previous post to see some highlights of me riding.

Glad I had my first bike ride with this mountain bike - I would love to get one of their vintage cruisers next!

Next on my list is to learn how to:

1. roller skate
2. ride a motor bike
3. learn how to swim beyond 5 ft🤣
4. jump out of a plane (hell nah j/k 🤣)

Falling in love with becoming the best version of myself.

Along the way, I’ve learned that the most beautiful and practical way to enjoy this process is to do it with patience, compassion and respect for my own unique journey and experiences.

Often times we beat ourselves up for not being where we’re supposed to be at a particular point in our lives while neglecting all the progress we’ve made along the way.

Consistency is a word that's usually overlooked in favor of more 'hyped' words like passion, intensity, focus, hustle. It's so easy to overlook the power of just showing up. Everyday, putting in the work - regardless of how you feel - and taking those little steps forward. Day after day, week after week.

Recently while working on my blog, I had to put these principles into practice. There were days I just felt like doing anything other than opening up my laptop and struggling through this unfamiliar process. And on the other hand there were days when I was so excited I couldn't wait to start working on it. But the one constant was that I did something small every single day no matter how I felt -

- Taking pictures
- Researching what I didn't know
- Writing articles
- Designing my own images and media
- Tweaking the look and feel

And finally, after all is said and done, those little steps have led here - it's finally launched!

So to whoever needs to hear this - please don't discount baby steps. Keep moving forward. Keep crushing it every single day.

It's the last Monday in March (and the first quarter!) who's ready to crush it this week and stay consistent!? ♥️💪🏾
