In 2010, during a lecture, Dr Frances Cress Welsing highlighted 4 different sets of actions to adopt vis-à-vis a white-supremacist capitalist patriarchy, namely: submit, cooperate, resist or destroy.
Resisting can be done by protesting, denouncing or consciously consuming from (local) shops instead of multinationals for example. Resisting has this physically active element to it that you would not instinctively associate with resting. However, resting is certainly not passive when it is done thoughtfully.
I happened to start reading this piece following the first symptoms of a burn-out. This book is a call to pause to reconnect with oneself in a healthy way by acknowledging and disrupting the grind culture provided by Western culture and amplified through social medias.
If you ever decide to resist or destroy this system, remember that birds prepare the nest before delivering an egg. In this case, for things to happen and change, one must be recognize this on-going manipulation, take time to heal from (generational) trauma, rest and dream before chasing and manifesting what is his or her to realize.
